I have the 'Pound for Pound' biography of Sugar Ray sitting right here in front of me and with all due respect I believe it ahead of your opinion :good

    He could be.

Are there any other amateurs out there who won Olympic gold in less than 22 fights?

I think many of the replies have missed the point.

Is it true that Foreman never lost as an amateur?

George was a raw boned, natural born destroyer in the Liston mold.

Yeah that's really quite incredible for someone to win a gold medal with only 22 fights, I've never heard of anything else like that.

The 2008 gold medallist and val barker trophy winner Vasyl Lomachenko has apparently had over 300 amateur fights with only the one loss. The loss was to a fighter in the final of the World Championships which he avenged in the rematch at the olympics.

Didn't Toney only have 20 or so fights without really doing anything significant?

Khan deserves a mention, an Olympic medal at 17 and stoppage win over Ortiz. Mayweather has an impressive amateur career too from what I've heard... not really very knowledgeable about Amateur boxing though if I'm honest.

87-0?? I didn't know that. And Breland really was not made to be a professional obviously.
