De La Hoya had a huge Amateur win/loss ratio, Gold medal too, Shane Mosley too though no Olympic honours for him.

Here is his ametuer record ..Look at his KO ratio

Toney's amateur boxing record is 33 fights, 31 wins and 2 losses with 29 KOs. He won the 1983 and 1984 West Michigan Division Junior Title (156 lb), 1987 Novice Golden Gloves in Manchester (156 lb), 1987 Michigan Silver Gloves (156 lb) and 1988 [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_State_Fair"]

To be honest that's a meaningless record, he hasn't won anything of any note there. Why are you impressed by his KO ratio? He would've been beating kids who trained twice a week for fitness and occasionally jumped in for a bout. Also in the amateurs it doesn't take alot for a ref to stop a fight.

It was about his success as an amateuer ,hate on the record all you want but for a kid to have 29 KO 's in 33 fights is impressive no matter if the ref did the stopping or Toney did .

thats not the point , he did not box at a high level as an amateur. Those fights he was well above those guys league on natural talent alone, this is why he has so many pro fights he learned on the job as a pro

JT had something like 22 pro fights in his first year, he played catchup due to his lack of amateur experience.:good

    Great record !
Funnily enough Wlad was supposed to box at HW for the Olympics but since Vitali failed a dope test Wlad could go on and box at his natural weight, their first dream was to win gold together at those games at HW and SHW

    thats what I read
