Personally I don’t see the hype. He’s good sure but he doesn’t even have a real title and his resume is nothing to boast about.
He's pretty good. Very talented. Dumb as a box of rocks but he knows his way a round a ring & is being groomed carefully by his handlers. I like champs who come out of the woodwork and kick ass straight away like Teofimo before his out of control delusion made him kak himself. Worst one has to be Ryan Garcia what a mess. But hey if you can make top dollar without even taking real fights then maybe that's smart. More than ever boxing is about "smart business" decisions rather than being a competitive sport.
A bit. But exciting to watch and like many, want to see him against better competition. It’s been not so great especially for his age.
maybe to market him to the greater sporting audience but i dont see any hardcore fans overrating him for being 27 he has good accomplishments, is undefeated, and has established himself fairly well i dont put much stock in belts per weight as there is filler even on great weight jumper resumes he is exciting to watch, hits hard, entertains I dont mind him, not a fan not a hater probably root for him more than i root against him
Yes. The Garbage Pail Kid from Baltimore got his stool pushed in by a ultra late no name replacement.
Absolutely. He was arguably the best SFW in the world before he moved up, but only arguably since he never unified with Berchelt who was the other man in contention once Loma left. But he was very good as a SFW. But at LW he has really underwhelmed. And isn't in the conversation for the best at all. When you compare the other prospects coming through like Stevenson and Haney who have both stepped up competition and challenged themselves. And whilst Barrios was decent, it was a title grab. Which sums up his career thus far. 3 divisional titles but has never faced the number 1 in any division. Considering he won his first title 5 years I can't help but be disappointed so far. Who knows, maybe after Rolly he'll step up.
This is the problem with boxing, the modern version, especially. Davis broke into the top-10 over 5 years ago. We should already know about his ceiling.
I wouldn't say the dude is dumb, uneducated yes. But the Baltimore schools are among the worst in the US. I saw a documentary on the Baltimore school district. One kid was 19, he may have still heen a freshman, reading level of 2nd grader. How in the hell did this kid keep getting passes? How did the parents or parent not know how bad a reader he was? Just pathetic all around. Oh, and when they leave campus, there is a good chance they get killed. So, there you go. So the man you call dumb was smart enough to become successful at something and raise a family away from all that. Hopefully.
He's 27 years old and has a much better career than Buatsi who Is beyond over rated so no. Davis Is a very talented fighter who most likely enjoys his off days with a variety of women who's gender could be considered of that of a man's. Then again, It Is 2022.
