It's hard to say at this point for me, yes he looks good beating sub par fighters but plenty of hype jobs do before they step up. His best win is probably Geale who has become irrelevant as fast as he became relevant. Just off the top of my head I can see Andrade, Canelo, & Ward beating him which isn't bad as outside of Andrade there all good fighter's but the credit he's getting for who he's beat is a bit ridiculous.
I mean honestly say he fight's Cotto this year and loses NOBODY is going to say it was a great win for Cotto but that Golovkin was shown to be a hype job which should tell you where he's really at.

Number one, Ward is not even in the same weight class and with his long layoff is probably closer to 75 than he is 68 so this discussion right now is pointless. Maybe some day when Golovkin who is a small mw moves up we can talk about Ward vs Golovkin.

As for how good GGG is, in the last 50 yrs of watching boxers, I can say emphatically that he is one of the better mw's I have seen, period. And it is just not power, its his ability to cut the ring off, go to the body and ALWAYS in position to throw hurtful shots. His jab is like a sledgehammer and the body work is relentless. In my opinion he will give ANY top MW trouble if not outright beat them.. Another thing that is scary about the guy is, he is getting better every time I see him.(defense especially)

    :rofl

If GGG is an easy win for Ward, why did he refuse to fight him twice in the past?

Completely and utterly ret@rded and moronic statement.

Cotto would be applauded for even agreeing to step into the ring with golovkin, let alone be expected to win. Honestly what do you think the odds would be for cotto to win? Any boxing expert (and I think even cotto himself) knows he would stand a zero chance of beating golovkin. GGG would end his career and Miguel and Roach know it. If Cotto beats golovkin it would be his greatest win BY FAR. If you havent yet realised, golovkin is universally regarded as the no.1 middleweight, and sit on most peoples p4p lists.

On the other hand a win for GGG against cotto and it would be arguable whether its his best win. Biggest name on his resume of course but hardly his most difficult opponent. I can easily see haters claiming that he still hasnt been tested as Cotto was always a blown up WW.

Well Cotto is a former WW who has moved through 4 division while everybody is afraid of GGG moving up just one.

I'd bet on GGG to beat Cotto in a tougher than expected fight. GGG shouldn't be on the P4P list as he's done nothing remotely P4P worthy.

I actually like GGG he's an exciting fighter like I said between 154-68 its only a handful of guy's I'd pick to beat him doesn't change the fact that he hasn't done SH!T.

And no Cotto in everyone's opinion it seems is shot past prime or whatever and to small so if and I did say If he was to fight GGG an win the vast majority will point to his resume say he hasn't fought anybody and was hyped up, that's just the way it is nowadays

you truly see all 3 beating him or they have the capability to possibly beat him ? I don't see any of them competing with trip G. I really think canelo gives him the best fight out of those 3.. I know I know, i'm going to get hate for saying canelo gives a better showing than ward. I just don't think ward will be able to clean more than a couple clean hooks or uppercuts or straight rights from trip G..

I've seen everything, actually I've seen more than I have to to form a coherent confident ****ysis of GGG. he has all the talent in the world and has put in the decades to transfer all that talent to kis honed skills to be all on display on fight night..

his defense is very underrated for a seek and destroy fighter its actually very very good. there is only 1 fighter that gets hit less than him and that's Floyd.

his offense is very underrated, everything he does is to setup his next devastating combination or to get in position to destroy his opponents body.

his stamina is now at the elite level. he went 11 rounds in attack mode all 11 rounds and hardly took any time off. might've took a minute here or a minute there but that was it. that was the last thing I needed to see from him, that he can fight the 10th round like its the 2nd round

doesn't waste any shots and his shot placement rivals floyds. he has every shot in the book perfected. such a dangerous fighter for anyone. the future bothers me because 2 of my favorite current fighters are headed from a collision course in a couple years and that is trip G vs Kovalev at 175.. in 2017, mark my words, I know its going to go down

trip G has a truly granite chin and mentally as strong as they come. dude is going to finish up the MW division, once he has the belts he will go through 168. well, it will only be a couple fights at 168, by that time it'll be ward then probably a dirrell bro or if Chavez jr is still active and still has his chin and doesn't fight at the new SHW div.

jk.. then the talk of kov will start and he'll be pushed up to 75 quickly for that fight. I know most on this childish forum are going to troll me about th GGG v KOV fight but that will be the fight in 2017. and one of them isn't walking out of that ring fully intact. it will all but end one of their careers as a top flight fighter.

time always pushes the truth to the forefront,
    mark this sh!t down

I think he is that good personally. Not only is he that good but he has a fan friendly style which is very good for boxing as a whole.

As for the Kovalev thing, there is an answer to that. Everyone has their own opinions of course but I rate Kovalev as the #1LHW and have claimed that since he beat Cleverly (wasn't on the forum then to back that up unfortunately). Their CV's are pretty similar but I think the Pascal KO makes his a little better.

Kovalev has been down though and we've seen him hurt a few times. That's the difference (for me anyway). I'm yet to see GGG remotely stunned at all. A KO artist - who can also box (he boxed more in his early fights pre Sanchez) - with an excellent chin is always going to get a lot of attention.

OP, in order to firstly hear and then accept the right answer you have to throw away the agenda driven mindset and have just a bit of common sense. Can you?

The best proof of his quality is that even his haters admits that he can only be beat outside his weight class.

Far from being the greatest MW of all time but he is streets ahead of everyone else in the division right now.

Extremely original thread that I will save and read later again. You propose a revolutionary point of view that was never suggested before on this board. You are the equivalent of Steve Jobs of the Internet boxing forums!
