So far yes, but he is still active so we can't say they're unreachable for him. The first half of your list, no way does he ever touch any of them no matter what he does from here out. That was my point. :good You could have just left well enough alone with "Not even close, because of: Nunn/Toney/Hopkins/Jones". There is simply no opposition anywhere on the horizon that could elevate him up there, and for him to wait around for some young phenoms to emerge, he would be in his late thirties by then. Therefore, we can say his ceiling (not yet hit) is "top five middleweight since Hagler" - and probably stuck in the 5 spot, no higher, even if he does all he can do to improve his resume at this point.
There are probably 2-3 guys @ 154 -right now- who beat the brakes off of Golovkin. I'd say there's little to no chance he'll ever overtake anyone on my list...
Hell no. Again, again, and again, he has fought nobody. Whey he gets knocked the f$#ked out, then fans will move on to the next body. Typical ESB process. It never changes.
I will somewhat disagree with you, because if he upset Ward that would elevate him. If Ward comes out of effective retirement, I do think the fight gets made and thats when we will see where GGG ranks among the top5 of the past 3 decades.
I don't have anything personal against GGG . But now I can see why GGG have so many people rooting for him to lose .
What, at super middle? That would have no bearing on his rankings amongst middleweights. If he drained Ward down to 160lb, it would creditable as little as Ward's stoppage of Dawson. So either way I don't see how Ward even factors in.
Because lots of trolls come up with unsubstantiated crap (like lots of people saying hes better than Hagler) and the usual suspects of ESB pile on the circle jerk? As for losing, the haters are most likely just going to have to live with the fact that its probably not going to happen unless he faces Ward.
Well, are we talking best 160 fighter - or best resume at 160lb sanctioned bouts? If we are talking just paper resume at 160 sanction, then yeah you are correct. If we are talking proven quality of the 160 pound fighter, then moving higher than natural weight qualifies for extra credit. If he upset Ward he could prove he was good enough to be in the top rankings of MWs skill wise.. even though he wouldnt have the 160lb paper resume. Of course beating Ward would be a big if.
he looks like the best middleweight ever to me so far, even without the resume. his ring iq combined with the power gives him the edge over anyone. people talk smack against him but i doubt they'd ever bet real money on it.
