But his professionally run gym and Garcia would let him come in overweight? Things clearly didn't go according to plan, did they? In my opinion, rehydrating almost 20lbs in 24 hours, especially having failed to make weight, is not a particularly good sign and does not necessarily indicate that Rubio had recovered. In fact, over-hydrating can be as dangerous as dehydration. And let's not forget that Rubio was hardly a world-beater to start with. It's not as if he hadn't been stopped before, in a long career, nearing its end. In terms of the big punchers Hagler faced, the obvious names that spring to mind are Hearns and Mugabi, both of whom landed monster shots on Hagler, without so much as him flinching. As intimated before, it's a nonsense suggestion that Hagler would be susceptible to a one-punch KO from Golovkin, especially based on your idea of weight being the definitive measure of punch resistance, thus making Golovkin's KO of Rubio a Herculean feat. And, since this was my initial point and my opinion is unlikely to waiver for lack of any real evidence to the contrary (at this time), I'm going to leave it there.
Hearns couldn't KO Hagler but Hearns could have been different w/ G -with his power and reach and all--G is close to being another Hagler, may hit harder but easier to hit-these guys rock
