I can see that comparison. Tszyu went 259-11 as an amateur and beat Vernon Forrest. Golovkin went 345-5 and beat Korobov, Lee, Bute, and Dirrell. But as a pro Tszyu got a title shot a lot quicker than GGG and even beat Bramble and Laporte on the way to it as opposed to Golovkin who beat no one of note. Bramble, Laporte, Mayweather, and Chavez were all shop worn and old when he got them though. The only really challenging young opponents for Tszyu were probably Judah and Hatton. Yeah, I guess Tszyu didn't have a great record aside from his number of defenses, unification of the division, and great punching power. The comparison is fair. Still, both will go down as great fighters.
Griffith, Napoles, Benvenuti, Briscoe, and Valdez. Two great welterweights, a great middleweight, and two good middleweights.
