it doesn't allow it. Search this from Bleaher Report: Canelo Alvarez Ready to Fight Gennady Golovkin at 155 Pounds, Says Eddy Reynoso
OK I see where you're getting this from now. This was right after he beat Cotto for the title at 155. Canelo had never fought above 155 at this point and his team was saying "look if GGG wants to fight at 155 we can make the fight right now". But he or his team wasn't INSISTING that GGG come down to 155. That weight had been where Canelo was fighting at, so he was comfortable at that weight. So I get where you're coming from, but there's a difference between being comfortable at a weight vs demanding a fighter drain himself to meet you at the weight. Canelo and his team realized soon after this that he needed to move up to 160 and fight GGG there. But he had never fought at that weight before and Canelo was getting sick and tired of always accomodating other fighters weight demands. (Mayweather, Cotto) Canelo's trainer did make these statements that he'll fight anyone at 155, including GGG which no one seemed to have any problem with that when Cotto was doing that while defending the MW title or when Mayweather would only fight him at 152. But when he talked about the same thing in regards to GGG all of a sudden it was an outrageous demand. (even though GGG himself said he'd had no problem coming down to 154 to fight Mayweather lmao) Canelo's team was simply applying the same standards that other fighters applied to him to GGG who stated that he would have no problem moving down to 154 to fight Mayweather so Canelo's team were simply saying "Look GGG if you want to fight us and you have no problem dropping down in weight as he clamed he would for Mayweather we will fight you right now at 155". But GGG would not do that, Canelo's side accepted this and Canelo and his team realized fighting GGG at 155 wouldn't work. If Canelo or his team had truly INSISTED that GGG make 155 then he would never have ended up fighting him at 160. So Canelo and his team did not ever INSIST that GGG fight him at 155. Canelo had just won the title from Cotto at 155 so he was simply saying I'll fight anyone at this weight. And this led to Khan coming up which suited Khan since he was a smaller guy. But then the public really started demanding he fight GGG, so Canelo did the right thing and agreed to fight GGG at 160.
It's what happened. I'm breaking it down for you. I'm not denying the point you made. I asked for the link and I am not denying that Eddy said that right after he beat Cotto. But Canelo himself or his team never insisted GGG make 155. And by the way if you have such a problem with the idea of GGG fighting Canelo at 155, if that's so wrong then why aren't you outraged that Cotto asked the same thing of Geale or Canelo himself? Why was it OK for Mayweather to demand Canelo make 152 when both had previously fought at 154? The point here is : there's obviously double standards involved. Fans had no problem with Canelo being put at a disadvantage vs Mayweather, that was somehow OK because Mayweather was allowed to get advantages that other fighters aren't allowed to get, and that somehow is fair? GGG HIMSELF stated he would have no problem draining himself to fight Mayweather but how dare Canelo's team even propose the idea of him GGG fighting him at 155 lol.
I know you get the point I'm making you just are too shy to admit it. I have no problem with saying that I get your point that his team talked about 155 vs GGG right after Cotto. BUT that's different than INSISTING GGG make 155 as Mayweather did with Canelo as Cotto did at "MW" etc.
Canelo gave up his belt, and officially waited 16 months before daring to get in the ring with GGG. That gave them plenty of time for ped research and experimtation. The final exam was Against a weight drained Chavez jr. After activating the Goldenboy judging insurance policy, he gets caught with his pants down before the 2nd GGG fight.
Exactly. Which is why this whole "I will move up if Ward moves down" nonsense is nothing but twitter garbage call-outs. Only simpletons like you believe that garbage.
It was better for Canelo to give up the belt and then move up to 160 than to be a diva like Mayweather or Cotto and insist GGG make 155. Canelo did the right thing by giving up the belt, and the WBC was doing him no favors in giving him timetables. Chavez was weight drained against Martinez having to make 160. He looked like a corpse at the weigh-in vs Martinez. Vs Canelo Chavez looked in great shape he came in 4 and a half lbs above MW. They agreed to a weight that was 10 LBS above the highest weight Canelo at ever fought at.
Why was Golovkin still at Middleweight then?. Why didn't he move up and make an actual mark at 168 if he was serious?. You are so idiotic, it's truly comical.
Yes this is fun. I hope you think about what I said and why it's so important. I look forward to reading your response.
Don't try to let this idiotic grandpa lure you away from the main topic. The Tomato Can Devourer finally got his free payday at 160 and got roasted, simple as that. The fight was at 160. Grandpa is just trying to sound relevant and smart before he hits the coffin. I promise you, if it was Alvarez in the Tomato Can Devourer's position, they would be insulting him nonstop for not accepting the Catchweight to a free payday.
