Bang on mate. They all consider Canelo to be some once in a generation talent and an ATG but he lost to a shot GGG twice while being roided to the gills and in his prime years

Would have been nice if he had started his pro career sooner. Maybe had 100 less amateur fights, instead of 350, 250.... he’s had close to 400 fights and I just read he’s never been dropped and never been ko’ed..... that’s impressive.

His career has essentially been and gone without that marquee victory he so desperately needed.

I mean he's been ranked in the top 2 of the division 7 years in a row. He arguably has a victory over Canelo. He has a slew of top ten opponents on his win list.

But is there anything really separating what he achieved from the likes of Arthur Abraham or Felix Sturm? Or William Jopoy or Keith Holmes?

The way he blew out Macklin was amazing. And he got a whole lot of credit for that fight.

From 2013 to 2016 he looked like a killer.

But then two things happened at the same time. He got older and his competition stepped up.

Jacobs and Alvarez in 2017 should have been his defining victories. But instead of blowing them away as predicted, he struggled.

Did he struggle because he was 35 or did he struggle because they were the best two he ever faced.

    That's the million dollar question.

OVERRATED!!!! When he stepped up went life and death with guys who his fans said he would ktfo. Supposed to be the biggest puncher in mw history koed hws in sparring. Never lived up to the hype you can't make any other case than being overrated. He was ring #1 p4p ffs.

Rjj destroys him so does hagler and hopkins outboxes him. Monzon puts the beats on him to.

I think RJJ and Hagler would obvious be favs against GGG but he could easily catch RJJ and get him out of there. Hagler is a different story as the man is made from iron. GGG would cause any MW issues just because of his jab alone which would win him rounds, say whay you want about GGG but u cannot deny he has one of the best jabs ever

The **** your bunk ass say about Barker?
Barker was one of the bravest middleweights out there. Dude gave 0 ****s basically.
And the Sturm loss was because of a career ending injury.
He literally never fought again after that.
But you make it sound like he retired to avoid Golovkin? GTFO

His fans weren't saying it, it was his sparring partners saying it, along with the obvious fight results.
Canelo is to blame for both of those situations. Canelo said after the Khan fight that he could fight GGG right now, and Mexicans don't F*** around, then two weeks later he is giving up the WBC belt followed by a Goldenboy announcement that Canelo won't fight GGG for 16 months to allow him to grow into the division, even though as a jr middleweight Canelo would come in fight night at 174lbs. The only reason Golovkin was expected to defend his IBF belt against Derevyanchenko at the last minute was because Canelo got caught cheating. Both situations are Canelo's fault.
