Golovkin vs. Derevyanchenko is an interesting, competitive fight.

Why doesn't the IBF enforce this mandatory, now that the Canelo fight is off?

I will lose respect for Golovkin if he fights a soft opponent like O'Sullivan on May 5 instead of the ready and willing Derevyanchenko.

    Damn straight he is
Derevenchenko is a much higher priority fight than Spike
If they fought Wade then they should fight Sergey

Yes. Derevyanchenko is very dangerous. Much better financially to get a big KO vs Spike before another money fight compared to risking it all.

That would've been the perfect replacement for the PED cheat, better than Andrade but modern boxing is fk up, now Triple G is doing to SD what others have done to him

I wont pay a dime for GGG vs Spike

Not many people will step up with 30 days to go to replace Canelo.

I get what your saying Kiwi but as a fan I’m over it. GGG clock is ticking his legacy is at stake he needs more good wins this Spike fight does nothing other get him 1.5 million plus “guaranteeing” his Canelo rematch but for the fans and his legacy it supports the Bumlovkin voices

I guess it can be seen that way. Derevyachenko fight is far better than the route team GGG seem to have chosen.

He’s always fought his mando’s before so I’m hesitant to hold this against him, given the circumstances, but he/they clearly see O’Sullivan as an easy way out of “May 5 situation “ and I’m not sure I will respect that should they actually sign up for this.

I’m not impressed either. It does make sense but I didn’t expect it from him of all fighters. If he doesn’t make up for it with his next move, his legacy will become a sad joke.

I see Derevyanchenko as the obvious choice from a boxing perspective.

From a business perspective, Spike is a reasonably good MW that is also very beatable by GGG, so that the apple cart isn't overturned. He's still chasing the last belt and the Canelo fight, and I guess that risking it all on Dere isn't worth the risk. In a perfect world we would have had the Canelo rematch and then Saunders and then Dervyanchenko.

Instead, Canelo was Clenelo and we're stuck with this ball of crap.

From a business perspective, GGG will be a 30-1 favorite over Spike practically ensuring he gets the W and his chance for the 8 figure payday vs Canelo

First of all we dont even know who the hell hes going to fight..What many people don't realize is that this is prizefighting... It aint that simple.. On a short notice he wont be able to get ready for a drastic change while hes been preparing for Canelo for such a long time... And also he is not going to fk up a potential rematch which I'm almost 99.9 percent sure that will still happen in September unless the Redhead is suspended for even longer.. Plus wasnt Canelo already scheduled to fight a B level fighter regardless of the outcome of the rematch with Golovkin?? why the hate? Most other fighters even if better than Spike are still no draws and higher risks...

At least the other possible opponents can make it interesting. We all know how GGG vs Spike turns out. No intrigue. Just tired of the Wade's, Adama's, Rubio's, Monroe's, Brook, and now Spike lol
