Did Derevyanchenko tell us (the public) that he wants to fight on May 5 recently? Did he tell that he is ready to replace Clenelo?
Because a fighter who isn't ready yet (four weeks out) won't be ready on May 5. I doubt anyone who has serious ambitions like Derevyanchenko is preparing himself only four or five weeks for a fight vs GGG.
As i read Spike is preparing for weeks now because he knew he would fight in May/June so it one thing for him to take the fight but someone who isn't in camp already, why taking the risk? Enormous pressure to find shape and form in a short period like that.

Hey I'm with you... I'm not happy about this fight and no one wants to see this shi** fight.. I just assume thats how their going to handle this.. Promotion wise and manager and all the BS.. Theyll go with Spike to play it safe.. Its all BS but its reality. Sucks cause I love boxing so much but Im disgusted by it sometimes..

Interesting. Lou DiBella used to flip the **** out when Martinez was at his peak and people kept calling for a GGG showdown. I remember him screaming at the top of his lungs about how GGG has fought no one and brought nothing to the table.

I would say that SD has fought lesser opposition and brings even less to the table than GGG did back then.

Thx, i did not follow twitter/instagram a lot recently so i was not able to clear the case.
If Derevyanchenko is ready, he should get the chance to fight GGG next month, no question.
If he is not asked Team GGG is definitely ducking him right now.

At least we have Lara vs Hurd on Saturday! I think Hurd beats Lara up

I remember Dibella crying "I'm not putting Sergio in the ring with that animal." My my how times have changed. Now GGG is the aging champ ducking his mandos.

If he's not taking this fight despite that this option was presented to him and he's mandatory, and chooses a weaker opponent instead, I don't know how else to call it. With that said, I don't think that Derevyachenko is a real threat to Golovkin but at least he can make the fight interesting.

SD isn't on the agenda to fight Golovkin now or anytime soon , so there's no parallel here. Saying S-Chenko is being ducked by GGG is exactly the same as saying Martinez was ducking GGG.
GGG was not on the pecking order then just like SD isn't now.. This is another example of why GGG being avoided was a big myth. Their timelines did not align up with each other

    Oh, I agree.

Golovkin and his team certainly deserve some criticism if they choose Spike. The thing that stops me saying too much is that if I were his manager I would certainly tell him to fight Spike over Derevyanchenko

Best of all is to wai for June and fight Saunders ... Golovkin's determination to fight on Cinco de Mayo is also another thing that annoys me.

P.S. There is still a chance of the latter - Warren says that they are in talks.

I doubt he fights Saunders in June. GGG already tweet saying hes defending his titles on May 5th in Vegas. That date is certain which eliminates the BJS match

I tend to think so too. However, if the money is right ...

I guess if Canelo is banned for more than six months he will fight Saunders in September.
