Canelo was a young man though. GGG is washed-up and his handlers know it. They want an easy fight, and then get him into a huge $$$ fight in Sept., where they might squeak out a win against a guy who hasn't fought in a year.

    It's the only logical choice.

unrealastics to think GGG would take someone on who has a chance on one months notice.. gonna be a tune up, deal with it. BJS will fight em after

It will be Spike, reasons being...

    1. GBP still get some form of cut in the show as they promote or co promote him.

    2. The WBC has already come out in support of the fight, they don't want Derevyanchenko possibly upsetting their Canelo v GGG fee cut.

    3. Team GGG probably want to secure the Canelo/ if payday.

Also imo it only looks like Derevyanchenko and Andrade are truly throwing their hats in to fight him, talk of Jacobs, Charlo etc is just that TALK.

    This.

And let's not forget that Canelo's diva antics have already cost us 2 (two) Golovkin fights. 5 May would be the 3rd. We would probably have already seen Dere / GGG.

Get this emergency fight over with, then fight Saunders of El Pollo next, after those two, he can fight the cripple beater Charlo....................but Golovkin has to become a cripple first!

    Its really that simple

Instead of trying to fight a 21 year old 147 prospect

Instead of trying to fight 154 Vanes who aint fought in 2 years

Instead of trying to fight a guy who been beat by BJS & Eubanks

Had he tried to fight a legit opponent like Drevy, its no problem

Trying to fight bums back fired...

    Thats on him

Screw Canelo, he been long suspended. Don't even bring him back

Only a true virgin would try and deflect the blame from Canelo to Golovkin.

Truly world class idiocy right here folks.

Tom Loeffler dragging his feet stalled the May 5th date, Spike was training for a fight in Vegas on May 4th so was an easy step in, had a good win last time on HBO and has a fan friendly style, made perfect sense for me.

Can't forget Demetrius Andrade threw his name into the hat too, although the entire boxing world likes to make out like he doesn't even exist lol.

I agree with this. Once Canelo was out it was up to GGG/KEEP to make the event. I have been very critical of K2 in the past.

I reckon Golovkin fights him next. Just not on May 5th.
