I get that but another factor that should be considered is his age. Not many mid 30 fighters KO the younger elite at their weight. DJ surprised many, I loved how he fought. After he hangs'em up it will probably be his best night ever, in terms of performance.

I dont wanna talk about Canelo with you because we may never agree on anything lol. I loved Canelo, but that was before he vacated his WBC belt. That was a shocker, ....along with everything that came after.

Golovkin and Loeffler seem to be small timers when it comes to marketing and business decisions.
Loeffler's biggest accomplishment with GGG is having him stay put at 160 and wait for Canelo to move up and becoming a "yes sir" man for Golden Boy in return for 15 million dollars.

HBO was giving GGG all the hype in the world and instead of capitalizing and matching GGG against the opponents the fans wanted to see so that GGG could be his own major brand Loeffler kept feeding him nobodies, that no one wanted to see. Instead of taking on the best opponents he finds a reason to avoid them.

Fighters like Oscar and Canelo get accused of being coddled when the opposite is true. Fighters like them fought all the top names regardless of risk/reward ratio and win or lose people will pay to see them because they prove that they are willing to fight anyone.

As far as age you have to consider a few things. Top fighters are fighting at the top a lot older now.

JMM, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Hopkins, Sergio Martinez to name a few.
Also GGG turned pro at 24 in 2006, and has had nothing but easy fights up until 2017. Its not like he was battle worn.
I don't believe that at 35 GGG has aged considerably. I guarantee you that had he fought O'Sullivan or Munguilian he would have looked as impressive as he did against Daniel Geale.
Sergio Martinez who also started fighting pro later than most fighters had his best run at age 35, dominating world level opposition.
Had GGG been fighting pro since age 20 or younger and had been matched against hard top opposition I could buy that by 35 he has diminished a considerable amount, but truth is, he's had it easy up until last year.

What was so schocking about dropping the WBC? Cotto did it too. The WBC is a joke, especially how they handled the MW title the last few years. I was actually very glad Cotto dropped the belt. I can see why someone who is uninformed can look at it in a negative light, but the simple fact that Canelo challenged GGG to a "Non-title fight" at 155 disproves the claim that Canelo vacated to avoid GGG, especially when you consider that GGG has said on more than one occasion that he is a small MW and can make 154 and would fight and beat anyone at 154.

So who were the guys people wanted to see in with GGG ? I'll remind you who.
-Martinez... Dibella said he would never match him against Golovkin
-Chavez Jr... when he was still somewhat relevant. Declined the fight ''because'' of Top Rank.
-Froch... who made a poll for his next fight, GGG won, but then oups he retired / couldn't make 168 lbs anymore, etc
    -Cotto... didn't want it
-Ward... I for one wanted to see that fight, but from a business point a view, and with what we saw with Kovalev, that was a smart choice to never fight him. Ward never managed to bring a real following to his fight, was not a draw and didn't bring any money. Winning against him would've been a great accomplishment, but it was a higher risk/lower reward type of fight because winning againt him wouldn't have given him more money, it wouldn't give him a bigger fanbase, and you wouldn't become a PPV star. Skillwise he WAS the guy to beat, but a victory against him was not exactly a gain, not like Froch or Chavez Jr would've been.
    -Eubank Jr lost his pen

So who were the other guys from 2013-2016 ? Even if GGG was not the monster he was hyped up to be, he always tried to get the best fight. And in hindsight, I would much rather fight smaller oppositiion for a couple of years making 1-2 millions per fight, and then hit the jackpot with Canelo and be his puppet for another career defining payday, then getting robbed againt Ward for peanuts.

The reason why people don't fight Derevyanchenko isn't that he is "dangerous". He's just not a draw, only a small amount of people even know him. I'm quite positive that all top-5 middleweights (Golovkin, Canelo, Jacobs, BJS, Murata) beat him. He shouldn't be fighting at 160, but at 154 instead.

I would have to hear a rational explanation as to how hes not avoiding it at this point... the desperation for an opponent coming from team G at this point is palpable and yet they are scrapping the barrel looking for showcase opponents instead of just accepting the fight from a guy who is ready and waiting. How is that not avoiding the fight?

They tried to get some kid from mexico, tried to get bald headed eubank victim (i legit cant think of his name right now im not trying to disrespect him) and freakin vanes lol. Meanwhile his mandatory is sitting by hoping for the fight with his promoter practically begging for team G to make this fight happen.

GGG basically wants a tune up fight, then rematch Canelo in september.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. I must not fear.

Golovkin should utter that to himself and maybe some day he may find the gonads to fight somebody decent :cunaooooo:

Yup. And fair enough... but someones desire to have a tune up, doesnt then make this a situation in which hes not avoiding this fight.

Hes avoiding this fight, because he wants a showcase. I understand that decision, but that doesnt then mean hes not avoiding SD. It just provides the reason as to why hes avoiding it.
