There is no guarantee Canelo and GGG will fight ever again, let alone in September. We don't know how long Canelo will be suspended, and we don't know if Canelo will ever give him the rematch.
GGG took step aside money three times now instead of enforcing his mandatory status, he also opted to not fight BJSaunders last June when Golden Boy told him not too, and now he's again stalling his career for money against Canelo.
GGG needs to forget about Canelo and make a living while he makes a legacy.

You're late to the party bro. News just broke out, GGG is fighting Vanes not the other top names who called him out.

Indeed, GGG needs to forget about Canelo.

Apparently GBP also advised Loeffler basically not to fight Derevyanchenko or Saunders this time as well.

Also theres a difference between a tune up and a showcase. Tune ups are solid fighters that dont have much chance at winning but will give you some good work and put in some good rounds while you tune things up.

A showcase is bringing in someone that you are going to walk over.

Team G is obviously trying to get a showcase here and not a legitimate tune up, imo.

If he fights Vanes I really dont see how anyone can defend or support that.

We know who is really in charge here. GB bossing GGG, which is a shame.

Plenty of mid-level gatekeeper types have been taking high-risk low pay fights for yrs.
I guarantee that if DChenko called Vera Rosado, Stevens, NDam, he could be sitting on a solid mandate.
But an injury prone Johnson, a sad version of Soliman and a quit job Douglas is a decent starting point, but not enough to make demands last minute on a Long reigning Champ merely salvaging a tv date while not having to jump through hoops and alter his training/sparring to suit a completely different style.

Vanes is suitable for every Champ at 154 and has long awaited a date with GGG

One of the few times I agree with you. GGG should move on and never even mention Canelo anymore. Get this joke fight out of the way, unify, then pick up a defense here or there to solidify the record then retire with your HOF ticket punched.

I'm saying it now, Canelo will not be calling GGGs name when he comes back. He will be looking for an easy touch for his "comeback fight"

Look at all the excuses being made for 3G business decisions. These same people were hating on Martinez for fighting Cotto, Cotto for fighting Canelo and Canelo for fighting Khan.

You're 100% correct. May 5th is less than a month away and they don't have a viable opponent. The most sensible thing to do is wait till June or July and fight BJS. But following CA like a lap dog may very well backfire. Especially if the rematch never happens.

Saunders claims he has an injury, Vanes refused to fight him, Charlo wants to fight a cripple, he will fight Golovkin if Golovkin will break one of his legs.....................

I think the problem is that he's beyond caring. He wants the big Canelo payday and he isn't going to risk that in a potentially career shortening fight here.

I also think anyone stupid enough to call him Bumlovkin won't change their mind on his legacy due to him beating Dev. I'd like to see thst fight and ths BJS one eith Canelo cast out like the cheating littls diva that he is but I understand why he doesn't give a **** what we want - he wants the cash.

Yeah. I think GGG is starting to creak at the joints. He knows he has little time left at the top, and he wants to cash out. It's just embarrassing to see him run after Clenelo with his nose stuck in his crack like a dog, though. :(
