The simple fact he’s never been on the canvas is a big reason.

How many unified world champions have never been knocked down in their career before? You could probably count them on one hand?

He hit Saunders clean on the chin. Does mean Billy have one of the hardest chins of all time?

    Nope.

I simply answered the other posters comment that GGG has never been hit by a huge puncher, when he has.

Joe Calzaghe hit the canvas 4 times yet he has an iron chin cos its been visibly tested on multiple occasions.

GGG has never endured a sustained attack from anybody and retreats against non punchers like Canelo. His body language tells me he doesn't trust his durability as much as his stupid fanboys do

He fought Lemmy very cautiously. It was billed as Hagler vs Hearns II but Hagler wasn't safety first guy who hid behind his jab .

I didn’t say it was the acid test, calm down pal. Take your medication. Count to 10, slowly.

But the fact he has never been on the canvas whilst fighting at the level he has does indicate he has a great chin. I mean, most great fighters have been KOd by bums at some point in their career, or knocked down by bums.

Canelo fought bigger punchers and was never wobbled never mind dropped. Fought at a higher level and had more pro fights than GGG too.
Im not convinced he has one of he best chins of all time.

The fanboysim is so rampant and rabid on here that stupid fanboys award GGG the title of ATG chin based fighting Canelo , but then say nothing about Canelo's chin when he was apparently on the end of GGGs HW ko'ing shots for 24 whole rounds.
Threads like this pop up all the time. How many for Canelo? Zero :facepalm::facepalm:

Oh come on, of course Canelo has an iron chin, That’s not up for debate either.

He’s fought 50+ times and many times against world level opposition, never been seriously hurt before. That means he has an iron chin, if it doesn’t then what are you saying is required to be classed as having an iron chin??

No , Canelo has elite , exceptional defense. He doesn't get hit clean. That doesn't mean he has an iron chin. Otherwise Danny Jacobs has an iron chin as well.

Why? When he’s been out cold before? How’s that comparable to Canelo ?

Has Canelo been out cold before?

Miguel Cotto's brother had him BADLY hurt and in serious trouble. But he was really young and inexperienced and I was more impressed with how he handled it and came roaring back to eventually stop Cotto.

I hate giving the ginger maggot praise, but it was right then, when he weathered the storm against Cotto and came back and KO'd him -- t the ripe age of 18 years old, that I KNEW, with every fabric of my being, that he was going to be an ATG.

I think Canelo's excellent defense, like you said, along with excellent vision, awareness, and anticipation are the main reasons for him being credited with a great chin. Oh, and the massive doses and cycles of steroids help a great bit too.

A lot of times when it looks like he is hit cleanly he rolls so subtly with the punch that its hard to notice, and very few guys can do it. That said ive seen certified bombs planted right on his chin and he ate them no problem, and usually got pissed off and tuned his opponent up in a brief spurt.
