I'm trying to think of another fighter who was outright ducked more than Golovkin has been in his career. Is there anyone?

Cotto wanted nothing to do with GGG
Canelo just dropped his belt to avoid GGG
Mayweather wants no part of GGG
Ward ducked two chances to fight GGG
Saunders doesn't want to fight GGG
Jacobs seems hesitant to fight GGG

Sure, Golovkin has a 22-fight T/KO streak going or something, but you'd think some of these guys would be embarrassed of their ducking.

I'm trying to remember any other fighter who was this avoided in his career.

Who else has ducked Golovkin? I'm sure there are others, I just don't remember the list now.

Felix Sturm ducked him when GGG was still an 8-0 prospect. The whole saga with Universum started because of that and eventually cost GGG 2 or 3 years of his career.

I think Abraham ducked him too.

    Interesting. I didn't realize that.

    I'm not surprised, though.

He is the most avoided fighter in a long time. Not sure ever but this is Sonny Liston levels of avoidance.

    Can't leave out Chavez jr.

Apparently a career high payday and megafight is the most important thing in the world unless it interrupts the GGG hate agenda though.

Hell no. You have great fighters of the past like "the body snatcher" Mike McCallum who was avoided by Leonard, Duran, Hearns, and Hagler. And never got the title shot he deserved.

It's pretty amazing to watch. Liston is a good name to bring up, people were terrified of him if I remember right.

McCallum fought guys like Curry and Toney. Even guys like Kalambay and Collins fought him. Those are serious names.

I'm a huge fan of McCallum. He was ducked, true, but he also got some good fights.

    Quillen
    Martinez
    Froch
    Chavez Jr.

    Thanks guys.

Did Chavez Jr duck or was it just he got beat first? I can't remember.

The story goes that GGG was groomed to be the next victim of Sturm who was Universum's most valuable asset. But after GGG decimated veterans Khomitsky, Boudla and Gardner in 2008 Sturm wanted no part of that fight and Universum fed cans to GGG who complained numerous times that he wants to fight Sturm and eventually left Universum. That's why GGG's career was stalled so much.

Golovkin terminated his contract with Universum in January 2010 and stated the following in an interview: "The reason for this decision is that I've always been placed behind Felix Sturm and Sebastian Zbik by Universum. Our demands to fight against Felix Sturm or Sabastian Zbik have been always rejected on absurd grounds. Universum had no real plan or concept for me, they did not even try to bring my career forward. They would rather try to prevent me from winning a title as long as Sturm and Zbik are champions. Further more, bouts against well-known and interesting opponents were held out in prospect, but nothing happened. This situation was not acceptable. It was time to move forward."

The irony is that Sturm himself later had disputes with Universum and the promotion got bankrupt while GGG became a big star in the USA, much bigger than that cheating bum Sturm ever was.

Even with all that you said, GGG still got more title shots than McCallum. Because McCallum has none.
