Is groves finished should he retire? I think he's still at the top level. Didn't he knock callum Smith down twice or something
No, they were slips No, he's not done. He reached the final of the competition and got beat by the better man on the night. Doesn't mean he should retire
He's not done, but he should retire. Diminishing returns from here on out. Chance of permanent injury etc. Been a great career, lots of memorable moments, been the champ. Why be greedy?
I like Groves, but I'll be honest, I didnt like his form or body language in the end of the fight. Time will tell how much it means but it wont surprise me if he doesn't return to form against a top level opponent. Hope Im wrong. Imo he should retire. Smart guy, made his money, became world champion, leave the sport with your mind in tact and head held high.
Still to watch the fight but that body language has been apparent in the lead up to Eubank fight too. Mentally he's already on the road to retirement.
Damn I wish the internet was around after Lennox Lewis got KTFO by McCall and Rahman, or Wlad got KTFO by Puritty, Brewster and Sanders, they'd have both given up all hope and packed it in, and we wouldn't have to hear all of this, where do Lennox and Wlad rank on ATG lists crap.
No, I had him 5-1 up. His jab is still one of the best in the sport if you ask me and he's still got plenty to give. People forget that he's always had a defensive error or two in him, this KO was more indicitave of the flaws in his game than any possible decline.
fights still to be made. Not for me to criticise amn elite level boxer but he seems to use up too much energy in the ring, waving his arms around like a 19th century pugilist on fast forward. Maybe he could start by dumping that rinkydinky SRL trademark hook imitation, it looks more like a Mammia Mia background extra dancer on him.
I don't see why he should retire to be honest. Can't see the signs where he displays no heart. If this were the case I'd advocate him retiring. But can't see it just yet.
