Jakes Shields has top notch bjj skills and is just as big as gsp. GSP was able to bully bj penn cuz of his size but shields is just as big and just as good in bjj.

I could see shields winning this fight. Time to end gsp's dominance in the welterweight division.

I pick Shields to win the fight, but if gsp can keep it standing he WILL win.

Gsp is in the best position to overtake fedors all time career dominance if he can beat Shields he is getting prettty close to achieving that I would not assume anything this is a real test for both fighters.

yea shields is very strong himself i mean he was able to pin a bigger henderson down for most of their fight. He could do the same to gsp.

If Sheilds wins a round. I would say that it will equate to one of the biggest upsets in the history of sports.

Shields will struggle to get past GSPs striking and complete a takedown, and if he does get him down, GSP will be fighting with everything he's got to get it back standing. I don't think it's as clear cut a fight either way as some people are making it out to be. Shields is a legitimate threat but I don't think he'll be beating GSP

The UFC has done a brilliant job of promoting Shields as a threat to GSP and I agree with them whole heartedly. Shields is the first worthy challenge GSP will face since Thiago Alves. That said - I expect St.Pierre to rise to the occasion and win in dominating fashion.

Shields basically went life and death with Martin Kampmann, I sincerely doubt that he's got anything to bring to the table that can worry GSP.

If Shields can perform at 170 like he could at 185, then we have a fight on our hands. But the Shields of the Kampmann fight was a very different animal from the Strikeforce mw king. Ultimately, GSP's stand-up is waaaaaaay better, so unless Shields is fit and strong enough to grapple with a monster for 25 minutes, he's getting busted up Koscheck-style.

I'm guessing you didn't watch any other Shields fights, I'm sick of guys who only watch UFC basing how good Shields is off that one fight, he looked terrible from the weight cut and was not performing at his best.

Shields is the biggest threat GSP has had in a while, if not ever.

You think it would be one of the greatest upsets in the history of the sport if a wrestler who outgrappled Dan Henderson managed to edge a round of grappling against GSP?

nope, but I simply don't see anything what Shields could offer GSP to get him in trouble. But it is MMA, anything can happen there. On my paper however, GSP wins everywhere.
