Yes he knocked out Frank Minton (W28 L33) in 1995, and

Sobot?? Watch it again, Sobot is on his feet when stopped and complains bitterly when the ref stops it, that one was premature - fits nicely into the same category as Manfredo and Byron Mitchell as flurry-stoppages that owe little to punching power and a lot to blazing handspeed and over-protective referees.

Two more things you should consider: (a) the standard of opposition in your three examples, (b) how long ago those fights were.

    - The Sobot fight was in 1998 and Branko Sobot retired with a career record of 19-11 (Denis Inkin and Arthur Abraham both KO'd him in 2)

    - The 1st Veit fight was in 2001, and Veit has also been stopped by Denis Inkin and Jurgen Braehmer

    - The Pudwill fight  was in 2002, and Pudwill is probably one of the worst fighters to challenge for a major world title. He had already been stopped twice by journeymen before he fought Calzaghe

This is a discussion of who is the most feather-fisted world class fighter in the world today so I don't see how three examples of stoppages against weak opposition between 6 and 10 years ago have any relevance (esp when the Sobot one is not a good example of power anyway).

Calzaghe cannot punch like he used to, for whatever reason, the evidence of that was glaringly obvious in the Jones fight. Right now, I say he is 3rd after Malignaggi and Mora, excluding the very low weight fighters as stoppages are less common down there.

Exactly. He was never a puncher, but for whatever reason any power he ever had seems to have evaporated. I couldn't believe he couldn't get Jones over in that fight.

    You said this
You also brought his overall ko rate and past stoppages up in your initial argument as to why he is featherfisted now..I just used examples to show the fact they were TKOs were misleading and didnt indicate what kind of puncher Joe was.

I dont recall the end of the Sobot fight...you are probably right...but he had dropped him and was smacking him all over the place.

My point is though...one fight he didnt get the stoppage you feel he should have got but I dont think that means his deserves to be lumped in with guys like Mora and Malignaggi...not over guys like Molitor, Calderon, John, Sturm, Fana, Hlasthwayo, Spinks, Moreno, Foreman, probably not even Mijares and Hasagawa.

He hurt Kessler only a year ago and noone else has really done that before or since.

I think you are more talking about he is one of the most featherfisted well known fighters rather then just world class ....And that I cant really disagree with.

Pound-for-pound I do think Calzaghe is on a par with those guys. Right now as a light-heavyweight, he has very very little power. Just my opinion though, fair do's if you disagree.

Yeah, some of you guys know how much fighter a feather fisted fighter has lol. I can tell by the evidence in this thread. Funny that Guzman and Cal are undefeated feather fisted fighters lol. They also rose up in weight also. Oh, they are over 30 also. Cal beats Hop and Kessler, and Guzman beats Soto, and both don't get the ko lol. Naw, they can't punch. The knopck against those guys imop is that they are sound world class boxers with great defense...that is the knock against them at this point:nut :nut :nut

You'll be up early this morning posting with your Welsh buddy...who you said you work with lol, who also has PAc pfp the best lol. He'll tell me that I'm getting exlaxed on by you, and then you'll tell us about Pac's great victory over Dlh...and that you never saw this coming. That is proof you eat PAc's ass. Kobe found out how Shaq's ass tasted in that freestyle at a NY party after he won his fourth ring with Miami. Do you even know what a freestyle is??? lol...
