    Viduka

has a very nice house in Croatia

I had a look from the outside last time I was in Croatia

It was good all the locals could point you to the house however with the size there wasn't much chance missing it

Imagine if Viduka went to an Arsenal, Chelsea or Man U after leaving Leeds in 2004/05.

I agree with Kegsy that Viduka would have been class with a big club in Serie A and wouldn't have been out of place in any big club around the world. Very skillful player for such a big man. It's a bit of a shame that after his stint at Leeds he went to mediocre Middlesborough and Newcastle United. Does anyone remember if any biggish club went looking for him after he left Leeds ?

I remember rumours of Roma & Inter Milan while Viduka was at Leeds.

Especially after that unbelievable 4 goal display for Leeds against Liverpool...a tonne of Italian clubs were lining him up.

Viduka was the Mark Philloupousis of Football, a serial waster who only played when he felt like it, i've heard however he was a pretty good bloke, pretty relaxed & laid back, but he was perhaps too laid back & wasted a lot of oportunities, whereas Kewell is the ultimate competitor & professional, he keeps himself in relatiovely good nick through hard work, & when he is injured he works harder than most to get right again

I dont think he got anywhere near his potential, he seemed a natural talent but somewhat lazy, a lot like the "POO"

Ok, since everyone else has taken this trolls' bait, I might as well give my 2 cents worth.

IMO Mark Bosnich was our best player ever. He was an absolutely phenominal goalkeeper. Just because his career was short doesnt push him down the list of best players. At his peak he was considered by many as the best goalkeeper in the world. I think the only player from Oz to have even been remotely given thought as "best in world" for a given position. But at that time there was some tough competition for that title - Schmeichel, Khan, Barthez, Friedel etc so it was always up for debate.

Shame drugs got hold of him. As with Shannon Taylor recently, we know how dangerous drugs are...

Calling him the "Scud" of football is a bit harsh. He produced far more at club level than he did at international level. The goals just didnt come for him at international level, but at club level, and taking into account that at club level, Viduka was usually up against tougher competition, Dukes was great.

He's a player that needs to be given spells often though. During the 2006 World Cup, Hiddink used him for every minute of our campaign, and in pretty hot conditions too. He started out well in most of those games, but in all of them, he was nowhere to be seen in the later stages.

Soccer is a shocking sport. as you say 90 minutes for 1-1:lol:

And the admin at Soccer Australia, and the business and public following/supporting the A-League just have no idea at ALL. They get all excited and start to expand with new teams, and talk of more. After a few short seasons clubs cannot support themself and go under (see North Qld) and others on the way. Its going the way of the NSL.

Australia and Uruguay played out a 1-1 draw over 210 minutes off football and I was on the edge of my seat and biting my nails throughout that whole time.

Football, whether Aussies like it all not is, and always will be the most popular sport in the world.
