Is Hatton a "Calzaghe" that actually stepped up?

There are a lot of similarities between Slappy Joe and Fatton career wise. If you look at Hatton's first 43 fights, his career is VERY similar to Calslappy's.

    -Fought a LOT of nobodies.

-After beating a LOT of nobodies, stepped "up" to some past prime big names

-Beat said big names with less than stellar performances

Now, at this point, Hatton decided he had a pair and stepped up to the real challenges. Being that his boxing IQ was egregious for the level he was fighting at, he was brutally KO'd twice.

If one looks at the career arc of these two fighters, the ONLY difference is that one of them didn't step up. If Calslappy had fought a prime RJJ (Pacquiao), or a prime James Toney (Mayweather), he too would've been KO'd. Hell, a 43 year old Hopkins and an utterly shot to **** ghost RJJ both knocked him down.

I can only imagine how the brittards would overrate Hatton as they do Calzaghe had Hatton hid in the UK until retirement like Joe.

The one thing I don't get here, he beat RJJ and B-Hop but gets no credit. Same as Floyd, Pacquiao and so on. They say he fought a washed up out of prime fighter ec... Truth is how often do two fighters in their prime on the same level meet? Usually these fighters are years apart in age, era and so on. You can only fight the guy in front of you as is, of course in Floyd's case they say he ducked said fighter until they got old.

My ramble, but its a reoccurring Theme here. We all love to talk boxing and match fighters up, it's what we do.

He should get credit for Hp, although I don't agree totally with the decision.

But he deserves absolutely NO credit for Roy. Let's be real here.

I'm not saying he beat he best version of RJJ, by far not the best. I was just getting at he beat the Roy that was in front of him, Which is all you can do.

This is absurd. Mayweather and Pac have NEVER fought someone so washed up as RJJ was. Calzaghe deserves nothing for that win, much less winning by decision. Beating RJJ at that point was about as meaningful as Lennox beating Tyson, yet if you watch that video you'll hear some dip**** brittard commentator say "This is the greatest win in the history of british boxing!"

    Pathetic.

This is how I always put it.

Hatton - His skills never matched his ambition.

Joe - His ambition never matched his skills.

This just in: Klitschko to face Ali! Ali's promoter has haggled with team Klitschko to allow Ali to fight in a wheelchair. Wladimir's quest for greatness could be completed, or could fall to disaster in the sure-to-be epic fight!

Brittards: He didn't beat the best Ali, but he beat the Ali in front of him.

Did Calzaghe run over the TS pet dog or something? He must have done something right if people are still hating on him 5 years after he retired

I could of sworn Joe C called out a prime Roy Jones Jr and Jones declined like Jones ducked Dariusz Michalczewski. Would Joe Calzaghe beat a prime Jones? Apparently Jones didn't want to take that change against Joe or Dariusz Michalczewski and this is from a proud American not a European boxing fan.

It's clear from watching any of their fights that Calzaghe is a more well rounded fighter than Hatton and superior in just about every category. With that said there are certainly some similarities in the way their careers were handled, and yes Hatton at the end of his career took on stiffer tests than Calzaghe did.
