Stamina wise. My gut says he can no longer last the distance against a decent fighter at either weight.
not to go against your gut instinct but i belive that hattons trainers will be the ones to relise if hatton is shot. but hattons defeat hasnt really effected him metally in my opinion! he is still up beat and ready to get his career going again so maybe a few fights then figth juan diaz and manny pacqiuo n if he beats them he will make him a pound for pound fighter again
they say you are only as good as your last fight- if its based on Hattons last 5 fights you have to wonder
Well there are still tough opponents for him at 140 like Torres and Witter but there is a difference in a boxer's mentality after his first loss. Guess only time will tell. They can say you are as good as your last fight but it isn't always true, there is always an exception.
It is hard to tell how an individual fighter reacts to a loss. Not in Hattons favor is the fact that he got knocked out. A stoppage is harder to get over than a decision. Plus, Rick gets banged around even when he wins, so a long career isn't guarenteed to begin with. Combine this with the fact that he gets so out of shape between fights and it appears that we may have already seen the best of Hatton, and the only direction is down.
The problem is that the way this guy fights, he would only have two or three good fights left in him anyway. There is no indication he is shot as yet but the thing that still would do for him is to fight on high octane, sheer willpower and intensity and that concerns not only the Mayweathers of this world - Hatton loses against the Urangos and the Lazcanos if he doesn't fight the same way he has done so far.
Hatton's 29 and he's lost one fight to the (some would argue) best P4P fighter in the world. Shot? No chance. He's slightly out of his depth at 147, but there are no other problems, in my opinion.
