Are they stars in england? What I mean is do regular people knwo who they are? How bout Michael bisping? or some of the ufc guys?
khan and hatton are the most famous, at least manchester way. calzaghe probably lags behind even though he's had plenty of itv exposure with fights and a documentary. ufc fighters don't make the news here so bisping is unheard of except by MMA fans and people who watched TUF on bravo.
They are big and i would say most of the general public knows who they are but not the finer details. (like my mates think hattons the best in the world and despite the news coverage they dont know who mayweather is :verysad ) But also depends where you live. If ur in wales i imagine that everyone knows calzaghe. If you live in the north west of england then everyone knows hatton and khan. Is it not the same in america?
Bruno, Eubank, Barry Mcguigan household names. Most people would know who they are. Calzaghe and Hatton, not that very well known out of the fight game. Hatton better known than Calzaghe. TV channels, too many titles etc.
We have already had this hatton and calzaghe are not big household names, half of the country didn't know who hatton was until he went on parkinson.
I argued this for ages a few weeks back but half of the forum wouldn't have it, they are just to biased.
Hatton, Calzaghe and Khan are big names. Anyone who gives a small toss about sport would know them. No one knows Michael Bisping. VERY few people.
Thats the whole point half the country doesn't give a toss about sport, lewis hamilton is in his first season of formula one and is already alot more well known than any of the three boxers.
I love what Hamilton is doing but I cannot see myself EVER watching a car repeatedly go round a track.
