He rather lose to a big name with pay then a small name and less pay. Simple. Witter will prolly kick his ass too.

If you are going to fight one of two fighters that can beat your' ass, you would fight the guy you could get you paid the most. Kostya was past prime and had a style suited for Hatton. Castillo was a good solid victory for Hatton. But castillo still has that style that is much easier for Hatton to deal with as opposed to Witter.

Hatton could beat Tszyu as often as not, even prime vs prime, whilst he would beat Castillo every time.

I think he is ducking Witter, but for the risk vs reward, rather than being scared - as some would have you believe.

So what - he is hardly the first fighter to duck someone, and won't be the last. (That don't make it right BTW!)

Hatton is the De La Hoya of Europe. (AKA the #1 Draw)
Why should he risk his name against an unproven?
Or a possible threat at this stage in his Boxing...
granted it's bad for the sport, But Hatton deserves to go out making bank.
only Superfights against the name's or tune up's for him from this point on.

The problem with that theory is that Malignaggi is not a superfight, and Lazcano sure as hell ain't

So again, thats quite a weak excuse that has no basis in reality

Not really IMO. He is still fighting a 'name' in Lazcano, whilst Witter is just fighting his mandatory challengers.

He is winning the PR war over Witter, no doubt about that.

Lazcano`s a name? Im pretty sure all those Northern Chimps making there way to the Hatton fight in May probably thought Lazcano was new type of ice cream.

Lazcano a 'name'? You must have a pretty loose meaning of the word ;)

He definitely isn't winning a PR war as far as knowledgable boxing fans go, you can't pull the wool over our eyes. The problem is the football lot are so drunk they believe this bull****...

Lazcano is certainly more of a name than Tim Bradley.

BTW - I sit on the fence on this one, I can see your point fully, but all Hatton has to do is say jump, and Sky say how high. They wouldn't give a **** if you fought Hatton to be honest, it would still be £14.95.

I won't be buying it - but this scrap is seen as a homecoming a.k.a. tune up - for 'bigger' fights.

Trouble is - Witter doesn't sell himself by calling out Hatton all the time, then saying he doesn't need him!

There are other fights for Witter, and it is time he took some of them, instead of screaming like a little girl every five minutes.

Hatton is winning the press 'war' because all the Fleet Street hacks think he is brilliant, always good copy and is a genuinely likeable chap. Not saying Witter isn't, but all this bluff doesn't really sell tickets in the UK as it does elsewhere.

Just posted this on another thread.........

I dont disagree with the point you make but I am more intrigued to know that while he knows Hatton is not interested, why Witter is not chasing the other top guys ??

There are plenty of other fights out there for him that would be his biggest win but he is happy to keep calling Hatton out and fight second rate fighters.

If Hatton retired tomorrow Witter would be Fcuked !!!

And for the record i'm a long way away from a Hatton fan.
