No, but he needs either to clean up 140 or to beat one or two additional world class fighters .... I agree that PAC and Malignaggi would be enough.
Depends, if you want to look at his accomplishments and you hold only the most accomplished all-time greats in that high regard then no, Hatton doens't belong there as of right now. Now if you actually look at the lame names in the HOF and compare them to Hatton then he would almost undoubtedly get in... because let's face it, our boxing hall of fame is easier to get into than Paris Hilton's pants.
Who is that 'peak world class fighter'? I can't find any on Ricky's resume that could be called a world class fighter at his peak. :huh
Not at the moment but he has time on his side. I have a feeling though that if he fights Pac and beats Pac convincingly (which i think he will) all people will then say is Hatton beat up on a blown up super flyweight.
I think it is a tough one - the criteria for getting in are unclear. The poster who said he was outclassed by Luis Collazo really needs to watch the fight again - in no way was he outclassed, he was always a little bit in front throughout, though it was a poor performance. There are lesser boxers than him in the HoF, which probably indicates he will get in, but I feel his overall contribution to the sport here in England - which the US posters won't notice, would go a long way toward meriting inclusion.
I think his resume is decent, but that's all. Many of his WBU fights were worthy of big three title status (even more so by today's standards) - but at that time Tszyu had all three titles, and there were a stack of guys in front of him in the rankings.
Hatton doesn't deserve it, but neither does R. Graziano or P. Cuevas, and several others. It depends on your criteria. it is after all the hall-of-fame, and Hatton is very famous. He's definitely not 1st-ballot if he is inducted. A stoppage in a close fight against a faded, inactive Tszyu, a stoppage over a washed-up Castillo, are his best wins. He struggled against Collazo, and more than expected against Maussa and Urango, and recently Lazcano, who in his prime was mauled to defeat by Castillo at 135lbs. A match with Pacquiao could swing it. Beating him won't mean that much, because a jr.welterweight champ beating a former flyweight champion is about as unimpressive as you can get. But Pac is the P4P king, and is at 135lbs now, so it could be enough. If he loses to Pacman, i don't see him getting in.
Kostya was washed up but still had enough to make it a fight. Castillo never was anywhere near Kostya and just as washed up. Plus he was given a beating and knocked out cold by Mayweather. Other fighters who have fought top p4p fighters (like Kessler against Calzaghe or Marquez against Pacquaio have at least made a fight of it and were not been humiliated like Hatton was). I see no reason for HOF.
Tszyu wasn't washed up at all. Hatton was not humiliated, he was beaten by the better fighter on the night - big deal.
