Is Hatton in the situation Gatti was in at 140?

I think at 147 the jump gets to big - 7 pounds is a decent weight jump, it can change things. Prior to that it is 5 pounds, which is still quite a bit. For these small guys, each pound matters. Though fighters usually have one more weight in them. However some mess up by not starting at a lower weight i.e. if Hatton had always stayed in shape maybe he should have started at 135. Some decide to be career fighters at one weight.

Gatti is not Hatton and vica versa. Hatton is a great welter who has fought two stylistic nightmares at 147. Unfortunately 147 guys are huge at the moment so I wouldn't advise he goes north for the time being.

My point is that they both have had trouble competing at 147 and are much better fighters at 140. Gatti just could not get back down to 140 and could not beat the top guys at 147. Hatton seems to be getting into mode. Hatton by far did much better at 147 by winning at WW title (I did not think he won.) and giving PBF a fight until he got stopped. I to believe Hatton should have started his career at 135, but his drinking and eating would have still been a factor. By going up and down in weight classes, it may cost him his ability to be the best at 140.

Gatti was never at Hatton's level, but he did attain two titles at two different weight classes and he did have a great fan base. Yes, not to Hatton's following.

Hatton also won world titles at two different weight classes:huh. Hatton would beat any version of Gatti at any time.
