No, he wasn't shot. I've been disputing this with ignorant **** fans around here for several months since the Pac loss. The guy loses one bout before the Pac fight and all of a sudden he's supposed to be shot?! :roll:atsch Get the **** outta here! Hopefully Malignaggi's recent performances will help persuede people into believing what I knew all along. The Hatton which took on Floyd, Malignaggi, and Pacquiao WAS a prime Ricky hatton.
Pauli is still trash, he was matched up perfectly against a guy that was made for him and much smaller.
He still fights the same way he always did but ran into two guys far better. Come on, everyone that loses is shot? :nut
exactly! you lose a fight and you're shot, damaged goods? what a lot of bull! and boxers are nothing but pussies in that case. we might as well retire every boxer that suffered a loss in their career.
For some weird reason, in modern boxing we often say people are 'shot' after one tough defeat. I am not sure why. It is a very modern thing. In the old days you take a 2-3 beatings before people declare you shot. Regarding Hatton - no he is not shot. Just over classed by PBF and Manny - like every one else in the 130-147 range (with 1 or 2 exceptions). Cotto is not shot either as seen in rounds 1-4 vs Manny. DeLaHoya? Yeah shot. But as I said, you can clearly map his decline is over time and not just one fight.
I know what you mean, I thought he looked a little drained at the weigh in. This content is protected Vs Mayweather This content is protected Vs Pacquiao Still, full credit to Pac.
Haha my bad, I just remembered he was at Welter againts Floyd. I still feel he looked a little drained though.
Hatton looked drained in both because his walking weight is like 160. He is a NATURALLY FAT person (this is not meant to be an insult). Without boxing he would be fat. So when he trains, the amount of mass and liquid he loses are tremendous, especially compared to Manny, PBF, Cotto, etc - whose physiques are very close to their fighting physiques. Hatton can look better but would require discipline BETWEEN fights. Which he and Arreola do not have.
I dont even like the word 'shot' and dont even have a clear understanding of its meaning-but Hatton probably IS it. Throughout his whole career(many fights.. like 50) his style 'requires' him to take punishment. This all adds up and his punch resistance is not what it used to be....and to think what state he is overall now after Pacquiao brutally koed him and left him badly concussedatsch. Not to mention his awful weight gaining and dropping and awful diet with take aways and beer drinking and the rest....
Maybe he should give Paulie a rematch. I think Hatton is a little faded, but he's still a good fighter. If he decides to fight again I can assure you I will be one of the first to tune in.
I would agree Ricky could still do great but other than the likes of Floyd or Pac. Or who knows if he still faces and overcome any similar opponents like these two who defeated him could propel his status back at the top once again. But I doubt he could still change or improve his style at his age. I think Hatton will still be Hatton, and I believe he is already exposed in this sport. But I am sure he could still shine from fights his ability could handle. Paulie shouldn't be mentioned because Hitman could still whup his ass or even more quickly if they meet again. Diaz is just a good but powerless boxer from the lower weight any welter can beat to include a good name in your resume.
Bradley is as good as Mayweather, and has the potential to be even better because of his chin. I'd like to see Bradley vs Mayweather but Mayweather will probably retire and Bradley probably wont move up in weight.
