Is Hatton really only getting 8 million for this fight?

My question about Hatton's payday is because of two trends:

    1. Some people saying that Hatton is the main draw. If he is the main draw why is he making so "little" in a fight that is bound to do at least 800,000PPV buys?

    2. People saying that Hatton didn't duck Mayweather at 140. If he wanted 13 million then, why is he only accepting 8 million now, AFTER his three fights in America have suppoesedly raised his profile?

    3. People saying Mayweather is cherrypicking. Obviously WW is the only weight that Hatton can make any money at. The other WWs are to big and strong for Hatton. So, perhaps it is Hatton that is taking the path of least resistance by fighting Mayweather. Cintron, Mosely, Williams, Cotto, Margarito, and even Berto and Judah will smash Hatton. Thus he's fighting the smallest of the bunch in hopes he can bully his way to a win.

That's not a very rational argument Deeval. What I mean by draw is the person responsible for most of the PPV buys, not who has the most idiots spend a month's pay to fly to another country. Furthermore, why is Hatton giving "premadonna floyd" the lion's share now, but not three years ago? Also, do you have an answer to my second and third points?

You don't know the details of the contract so you can't really speak on it with any certainty. For all you know his $8 million could just be the guarantee from the US promoters and HBO. You don't know if he's getting a PPV cut. If the fight does 800,000 buys like you predict and Hatton got a relatively small slice of the cut say 15% of the revenue by contract he'd get a payday of $14 million. You also don't have any idea what he's getting paid via British TV/PPV contracts.

Something that always gets overlooked on ESB is that many posters think the announced purse or the guarantee from the promoter/venue/HBO is the be all end all, especially for European boxers. It isn't. Boxers like Hatton and the Klitschkos get paid hefty money for European TV rights to their fights and by advertisers and sponsors

No, Hatton is taking the fight he has the best chance to win. It is a 5% chance, but at least he MIGHT be able to use bullying tactics to avoid getting his block knocked off by a KO artist like Cintron, or raped by a tough hombre like Margarito for less money. I think that he is taking a step that is good for boxing and will just say that neither he nor Mayweather are cherrypicking.

By the way, your argument for point 2 was well done. Kudos to you!

No, he didn't fight Oscar, he fought the faded Castillo. What's your point?

Just going by what you said. And Oscar wouldnt have given him much more than he's getting now. Oscar just would have taken a bigger share.

Speculation I know, but thats just what I think.

Ricky's share of just the purse better be 8 mil, cause as many brits will
pile into vegas as pbf will bring american fans. Ricky's the draw here.
The split should be at least 40% for ricky, and that includes everything
down to the concessions. Only reason floyd gets more is because he's the champ at 147.
