It's a 3 fight option. Haye has to fight Wlad, then Vitali if he wins, and then Wlad again if he wins that fight.

No matter who's idea the clause is, it is a sign of hedging bets.

I don't follow that division closely, but I would have to think you are misrepresenting this. It would be Chad Dawson inserting that clause this time around. The belt still has commercial value to the holder, hence the clause.

A two fight option is great if you are planning on throwing the fight. Just imagine the amount of money the rematch would make.

Haye has a punchers chance - so with that being said - it's just a smart move by the Klits.

It only becomes a 3 fight option if he wins - which includes the fight that's at hand.

no i dont see it as fear, more of a safty net for the "what if", i mean even a ****** can hit the lottery.

its like saying a collage football standout has a degree in law for his "what if i dont get drafted". Its not that hes not confident but **** man anything can happen.

I know that. That much is pretty obvious.

Yes I think so, notice how few 2 fight options there are when a title holder is hugely favoured to win a fight. It is obviously a way for boxers to cover their ass should they be beaten, so it is a sign of doubt at least.

For some....maybe. I find it hard to say boxers at this level of the game being afraid. Cautious, concerned or respectful on some level YES, absolutely.

These guys who are top or Elite fighters are not scared or have any kind of fear, but they do understand that at this level anyone can win or loose on any given night. Having a 2 fight clause is re-assurance for the fighter in case they have an off night or someone lands a "lucky punch".

You can call it fear, but fear would most likely prevent a fight from even taking place, let alone agreeing to a SECOND fight when one of the fighters does loose.

I don't know, rereading it and it seems fine to me, but OK.

You are trying to make out that any fighter with a 2nd fight option clause is a coward. Let's phrase it properly. Fear = Cowardice. Not sure why someone would sign the first fight, let alone a second if that were true, but.... Let's go with it.

Are you saying your boy Paul Williams is such a MAN that he HAS NEVER and WILL NEVER have a second fight option in a contract because that would mean he was afraid? A coward? Even if his title is on the line?

Fear is far different from Doubt. Anyone can have doubts....even the best of the best b/c no one controls fate. An ELITE Level athlete can set themselves up to prevent the upset or loss by doing the things to get in tip top condition but at this level ANYTHING can happen and you'd be a fool to think you are invincible. Hence the 2 fight clause. If it were fear a TWO FIGHT clause wouldn't be a factor. Getting just ONE fight with a scared fighter would be a task in itself let alone and rematch if you are the "Scared" fighter. Unless you are a sacraficial lamb looking for a payday.
