any champion that is not fighting a mandatory challeger always gets a rematch guaranteed.

Stupid premise, stupid thread. Sorry. I just don't know why you thought this idea had merit. I'm tired of people disparaging boxers who get in the ring and fight each other. The clause is business. Not fear.

Ok I guess fear is the wrong word, I personally don't think anyone can call men who make their living in such a dangerous and risky sport, scared or cowardly, but I do agree that a 2 fight option is put in place when a fighter has some doubts. But as you say, fear and doubt are two different things, so I stand corrected.

I don't think it's fear. This is boxing and anything can happen, so I think it's a way to feel a bit more in control of the situation in case something does go wrong you might just have a second chance to set the record straight.

That's bull****. That would make no sense for someone trying to start up their own promotional company. That means that he can't even fight on his own damn cards for the next few years if he wins.

Maybe he wanted a rematch clause, or a clause saying he'd get to fight Vitali if he wins, but no way did he want to give K2 options. That limits his revenues.

To the original question, it's not fear, but it does indicate that K2 thinks Wladimir might actually lose. If they were confident he would win, they wouldn't have made as big of a stink about it, because there's a very low likelihood that you'd ever need to use the options.

WASSUP WIT YA WWM!!?? I don't think that a rematch clause means 1 fighter is scared or not confident in there abilities!! I think Jermain really thought he'd beat Pavlik in there 1st fight but he had a clause in there contract...

I THINK A REMATCH CLAUSE IS A SMART BUSINESS MOVE FOR A CHAMPION OR TITLE HOLDER!

Thats the point.. "trying to start" Haye company is in no shape at this time to promote a fight of this size

i dont blame them for wanting a rematch if they loose.
i dont think it shows fear but like brick was saying it does show that K2 think it is a possiblity that wlad will loose
