The guy is talking about Haye's weight and size nothing else. His size is throwback to the weights of the guys in the seventies yes.

As for the Klits I can't help but view their physical attributes as being a large part of their success. When you stand at least 4 inches above everyone you face and weigh 20 to 30lbs more and you aren't fat then you already have a massive advantage.

I'm not denying they have skills but their size is definitely a massive help - look at Valuev he is no skill set and is basically a horrendously slow giant. His height and strength got him to where he is. That is it.

With Haye's size and his problems with stamina and probably chin he has a real obstacle to defeat in the Klitschko brothers. Haye has faced no one at heavyweight yet really. I feel that he may be in for a big surprise if and when he gets in the ring and gets clocked by a big right hand or left hook. Time will tell.

The way he fought against a 600 year old Ruiz and A-Force was throwback, no doubt.

I think Haye is a throwback to Jack Dempsey... hes avoiding his two top challengers just like Dempsey did.

Bottom line is this, Haye has performed well in the division due to his speed and power which is from not being a fat slob. And you cannot deny that his speed and power are the main things you consider if he were to fight the klits.

He's had three significant HW fights:

    Barrett, Valuev and Ruiz.

He was knocked down in one, needed a split decision in another, and Ruiz would have likely survived ala Briggs if not for his trainer.

    Hardly Tyson circa 1988.

Is that your definition of "performed well"?

    - Barrett: was brutally destroyed by Wlad 10 years ago and had a record of 3 wins and 6 losses over the past 5 years

    - Valuev: falling apart from injuries, coming off a 1 year layoff

    - Ruiz: semi-retired, haven't fought live opponent for 2 years

Haye hasn't really done much in the division yet, the only throwback similarity is that he at least keeps himself in shape.
