hayes chin is the ONLY factor which will stop him becoming a succes at heavyweight, if he had an Tua-esq beard I would put my house on him clearing up all the belts.

Fact is he doesnt and in heavyweight boxing a chin can make or break you. Talent wise he is head and shoulders above the likes of Chagaev and Maskaev, who both hold world belts.

Style wise and attitude wise, he is what this boring weight class needs, he will fight anyone, will travel to fight anyone and can knock people out with a single shot...he also speaks English ( :D ). I think haye will wins a world heavyweight title, which one and how long he keeps it is yet to be seen but when guys like Lyachovich, Ibraimov, Maskaev, Brewster, Byrd, Valuev can call themselves heavyweight champ, I cant see why David Haye cant.

And Wlad is the most vunrable number one heavyweight i have seen in a long time. Fast hands and a big punch can beat Wladimir klitschko, that has already been proven!

What the **** does "Political Correctness" have to do with anything? This is about stupidity. The connotation of the term "White Hope" from which the term "Black Hope" is derived is linked specifically to the racial proclivities of American fans. What that has to do with David Haye is beyond me.

The chin is such a debatable issue, in Haye's case I think it was because he wasn't prepared. He was coming off a fight in which he weighted 217 pounds and then got up to 230 before fighting Mormeck and having to cut like that hurt him. He looks in the best shape of his life and I hope he not only beats Macca but also takes some shots and show's he's got a chin.

Although there are some blinkered fanboy idiots out there, the hype for me around Haye at HW isn't the chances of him cleaning it up but rather the chances of seeing a mildly entertaining HW fight for once!

Yeah he has a glass jaw and carries that left way too low, but he has the hand n foot speed plus huge punch to make for some enteraining fights at HW and prob win a few, possibly holding a belt for a while. I mean its not like the current crop of heavies are hagler-esque in their ability to take a punch.

Personally i would like to see him take 1 or 2 more at cruiser first (USS and bell?) then he could prob go into heavies 1 or 2 fights off a title shot. He is only 27, young by HW standards.

As for tonight I still think he is only 60-40 to beat Enzo so this could be all academic!

Great post and very subjective. You see Hayes career and the fight the same way i do. I too have no desire to see him rush to heavy when his made 200lbs with 2lbs to spare. Its amazing what a bit of dedication can do:roll:

As for his ability to take a punch that could be augmented greatly simply by raising his left. I hope his trainers corrected this. Remember Mormeck was hitting this guy with LEAD right hands..:patsch

Eric Fields could be the guy who goes from Crusier to Heavy and and do some damage.

    I don't think There needs to be a "
Black Hope" or "White Hope" or "Latino Hope". Boxing is boxing. It is what it is. If the fighter is good, then he's good.

On the front foot the kid is unstoppable, His beaten Mormeck and Mac back to back. Id like to see him take on some of the other names at cruiser and really clean out but the likelyhood is his definitly off to heavy. But its only a matter of time before Haye eats a stunning KO if he cant keep that left up. Hope im wrong though as i love watching the kid and have done since he turned pro.

I just seen his fight on YouTube. Uhh...Guy is impressive, and I give him much props, but until I see him knock out a guy that weighs 240 or so I DO NOT BELIEVE HE CAN! Unless it's just some 240 pd, out of shape bum.
People talk about Wlad only weighing 238 in his last fight, and this guy weighs 215-220. Even 20 pds is a big difference, but did anybody notice Wlad at 238? Actually looked at the size of the guy? First, he was the leanest he has ever been (I'd say he couldn't be more than 5% body fat), and look at the guys back (It's wide as a freakin barn), and his calfs the size of trees.
I'm not saying size is everything, but size does mean a lot. You guys cannot compare this guy to Ali! The only way size doesn't mean much is if you got a very crappy big fighter, and he's fighting a super talented small fighter. Wlad isn't a crappy big fighter, and this guy isn't a super talented small fighter. I don't doubt he can't do well in the HW division, but fact is he just better not get to cocky, and go to far with it. I remember Jones beating Ruiz, but you didn't see Jones fight much of anybody else...because he was smart, and knew he wasn't big enough.
