All this talk about his power reminds me of Jeff Lacy. Power is great, but without skill, discipline and a game plan that includes something other than "bombing out" your opponent, it will only take you so far.
No he is much better. He unified the Cruiserweight division. Haye has good boxing skills overall, and is faster than Lacy.
Jeff Lacy was slower than Edison god damn Miranda. At least Haye brings speed and power, Jeff Lacy was about as slow as they come.
no. atleast jeff lacys power was proven. we dont have much to go on for haye at heavyweight. and hes better than lacy at his normal weight (cruiser).
Haye is far more explosive than Lacy. On the other hand, if Haye meets a Klitschko he might share Lacy's fate when he met JC. Powerful punchers are easily hailed as the new HW kings but often they find out that either their power isn't all it was expected to be (Sam Peter) or they lack other qualities (Tua). Haye is simply unproven at the elite HW level.
Yes and Valuev has been watching Calzaghe - Lacy to prepare for this fight..........he is planning ''something special'' for Haye - he is planning to do the same thing to David Haye that Calzaghe did to Lacy. 1000+ punches in blindingly fast combinations, making Haye miss and knocking him down in the final round. Well, it could happen
I don't have anything against Lacy and I'm not really a Haye fan but in a word: No. In more than a word: Haye is clearly going down a more important fighter, the better fighter and the fighter with the better tools, save for chin. Lacy's chin is better. That's it.
Caveat- Jeff Lacy has stamina and a chin. Although right now it looks like Haye is much much better and much more accomplished then Jeff Lacy, it can't be overlooked that he's a disaster/meltdown waiting to happen. One loss to either Klitschko, in which he would be thoroughly beaten from pillar to post, is something he might never mentally or physically recover from. (I say thoroughly beaten not because it's a foregone conclusion but because IF he is beaten there is only one way the brothers do it, slowly and painfully by attrition over 12 rounds).
