I like Haye. He acts like a dickhead to sell fights but who really gives a ****? He gets overly criticised for his fight with Wlad, I don't know why, must be morons who don't even understand boxing. If by running you mean effectively slip the jab of, as some on here have said, the greatest HW jabber (or top 3) of all time then fine he "ran".

I just found it odd that when Sugar thought Johnson was a more hated fighter than Haye (and I agreed), that you dismissed it on Johnson's era.
Btw, aside from the era, Johnson was no choir boy. I believe he even refused to defend his title vs worthy blacks. It was all about the $ for JJ.

I don't know who hates Haye. I think he is a good fighter. I think people have problems with guys like Haye who seem to have other things going on besides boxing, so they think how can he be so great and still be so outgoing. They want all fighters to be lke Hagler and be quiet and put himself in jail like he said he did for fights. Not everyone is like that.

 

Most hated fighter ever? Haye talked smack about Wladimir here and there, lost the fight and it's good night for him. He barely talked enough trash compared to others to even be listed.

 

Not enough know him globally/generally for him to be the "most hated ever". He went to Jamaica recently and needed Lennox Lewis to confirm he's a former heavyweight champion in a hotel.

 

It would be tough to top the hatred for Ali back in the mid-late 60's when he refused the draft and went all Black Muslim. Wasn't till he made his comeback and the public turned against the war that people began to like him. But man, after he beat Liston and during those years he was hated like no other athlete I have ever seen.
