iFilm (Kugan) interviewed Burns, with Hearn filming. He (Eddie) said he'd set up the Vasquez fight if Burns beat JG. This was the day before the fight. Billy said on here that he'd prefer Abril. Burns has a profile up here now, he's going to sell tickets regardless. A unification fight would sell out (10k) as would a large domestic fight (a la Rees) in December, even if he lost in his unification bout, IMO.

I hope not, he came though against someone last night who imo will cause anyone big problems in the division

Lets see how good Abril,Vasquz and Broner really are, if they are as good as made out on ESB (or if Ricky is as bad as some think) they should handle Ricky no problem , lets see if Ricky is an easy ride for them eh? Bring it on.

There is no value in waiting for these fights, Ricky is still prime now

makes sense those 2 would want the fight there options are limited as champions no real fanbase and as far as i can tell TV networks in the US are not really interested in them

I would heavily favour Abril & Vasquez to beat Burns.

I think one issue for Burns is lack of quality sparring. He should go the US and spar with some of the best. Do 3 weeks sparring with Rigondeux.

Agreed, i think Burns sparred with Adil Anwar and Martin Ward for this fight. No offense to both but Burns needs to be sparring with fighters at a much higher level.

With the amount of money Ricky's spent on camps that went nowhere, he maybe didn't want to pour more money in to sparring.

Alexander vs Purdy, Khan vs McCloskey, Bute vs Froch, Kessler vs Froch 2, Alexander vs Brook, Bellew vs Chilemba 1 & 2 Eddie's making the fights mate :good even his domestic level guys are getting good solid fights in. Its the guys on the peripherals (Barker, Selby and so on.......) who are in a little place called no mans land at the moment.

Burns will get the fights he wants.

I think the fights would be closer than you do but I'm completely with you on the sparring.

The problem is the British market compared to the American market. I'm sure Ricky Burns would like the big fights, as would Hearn and FW, but as a World Champion Ricky shouldn't have to go to America for instance.

Hearn is all for sending his contenders into the Lion's den, but try getting your Broners and Mayweathers over to Britain to defend their titles, no chance.

If British fighters want a long successful career, they have to pick up titles such as the WBO and keep defending until the big fights are being offered on a plate.

No champion should have to fight abroad for less than 50%.

Pretty sure if Burns was offered 20% cut with Mayweather he would go!

He should do. The term '2 weight world champion' flatters Ricky Burns.
