Worst boxers but potentially the most exciting or suspenseful fights.

Maybe not the worst but it doesn't help that the vast majority of men aren't HW sized. Same logic would apply to strawweights. The largest talent pools are likely within welterweight to light heavy.

I really do not care about weight clasees. . . .Any heavyweight contender will defeat any other contender and champion from any any other weight class. . . A man is a man and may they just fight. . . . .Floyd Mayweather is not the best or Lomachenko or Crawford because any heavyweight would destroy them in a fight.

    Emphatic yes.

Why is there just a regular "yes" in the poll options?

    ...and why is "no" winning??????

Heavyweight is where the juice is and what most fans here want to talk about. Skill level counts but as we saw with Joshua Povetkin it counts for less at heavy.

Because there's still strawweight where you have low quality journeymen with losing records in the top50 and about 1 out of 4 guys competing gets at least one titleshot somewhere in their careers.
Current HW is bad, but not nearly as bad as Straw.

It's a strange division because guys can enjoy success far more related to their physique than at other weights. So you get physical freaks or roided types who can't really box enjoying success.

At some points it's been the worst division. I don't think this is one of those points though. Theres some contrasting styles amongst the leading guys, a couple of interesting veterans in Ortiz and Povetkin.

Even outside the elite there's characters like Chisora, admirable pros like Takam, likeable chumps like Allen and some promising guys coming through like Nathan Gorman. Finally even the worst hw bouts offer a greater chance of a knockout than watching 2 skilled straw weights viciously pat each other for 12 long rounds. So there's that.

True SMW is horrible. At least the HW division has a milk cow ( Joshua )

No it's not. Minimumweight, Light Flyweight, Light Middleweight, Super Middleweight and Cruiserweight are worse.

The best divisions are the Super Flyweight, Bantamweight, Super Featherweight, Lightweight, Welterweight and
    Middleweight divisions at the moment.

Heavyweight is on par with the Flyweight, Super Bantamweight, Featherweight, Light Welterweight and Light Heavyweight divisions.

The nationality of the best fighter is the new measuring stick for how good a division is and that's the reason the awful cruiserweight division gets praised, good observation.

Meh, that’s been going on a while though right? Kinda like how according to some people the heavyweight division was “Dead” or even funnier “Lost all its boxers to da NFL and MBA” during 2004-2015 right? But now all the sudden it’s good?? :wanker

I don’t think the division is terrible right now but Ibragimov, Prime Povetkin, Prime Chagaev, Vitali, Prime Wladimir, Prime Haye, Prime Peter, Tony Thompson when he wasn’t a senior citizen etc all would run through ANY of the top ranked heavyweights today.

No, the guys at 105lbs historically are not very good. There just aren't that many people that tiny so there's less to chose from athletically. Then when you have their selection, many of them are boiling themselves down cruelly to make the poundage.

Of the traditional 8 weight classes though, HW would be the least impressive I think and produced the least "natural" great fighters IMO.

Never said it's a great division but i had a good laugh reading names like Ibragimov, Chagaev, Peter and Thompson.

    Thanks for that.
