He had so much talent and potential when he came up, but for whatever reason, he never really realized it. As far as the Hall, Why not? Some guys on here act like the Hall shouldn't put anybody in who is not up to their standards. Without guys going in every year and people coming out and supporting the place, there would be no Hall of Fame.
This argument about "The Hall of Fame should be only for great fighters" is silly. Who is supposed to be judge and jury to determine one's greatness then? You'd think it was some absolute mathematical formula that could actually be proven. It can't. There is so much gray area with almost every fighter out there that no one is ever going to agree 100% on 95% of the eligible fighters.
That's really about what it comes down to. An opinion.. I could say I like Vanilla and you could scream No! Chocolate!. Greatness is measured in a lot of different ways and over the past 120 years, there have been a lot of people who have done great things in boxing.
People like Gatti and Ward are perfect examples of boxers who are great in some peoples eyes and not great in others.
"well hath thou spoken Sir." I've said the same thing for years. there's hundreds of great fighters, thousands even... 150 years with Tens of Thousands of competitors assures us of that!
Not sure , the performances in some of his losses hurts him and the lack of a Rosario rematch doesn't help
