Is here anyone except me who believes that GGG has a chance?

That's what makes this fight so damn intriguing. Each fighter's most effective and natural style play right into each other's hand. GGG's natural style is to come forward and corner his opponent and open up using his power to overwhelm and hurt his opponent, while Canelo's natural style is to anticipate his opponent's offense and counter .

 

minor point: i'm pretty sure GGG doesn't have a reach advantage vs Canelo;

i think GGG is taller, but i believe it's Canelo that has a 1 cm or so reach advantage

i do think GGG has an "practical" or "effective" reach advantage though because GGG's idea range is about a half step beyond Canelo's--perhaps this is what you were talking about

for instance, Canelo likes to throw short hooks; GGG prefers more extension in his punches

 

Fact is that the judges will all three be for El Pollo, three Mexican judges in Texas with Lawrence Cole as the referee, we have seen way too many criminal decisions.............the ref's job will be to protect El Pollo in the ring, they judges will already have their cards filled out, very criminal boxing commission in TexASS.............Cole's father is the commissioner..................the crowed will also be Mexican, so the fix is in if the referee can protect El Pollo, no way would Oscar had allowed the fight to happen without a way to cheat......................El Pollo got everyting in the contract he wanted, a rematch clause, Golovkin was not allowed a rematch clause, that is just in case the referee can't protect El Pollo, no matter how one sided the fight is, the judges will have it scored for El Pollo...........we have just seen some really bad judges, just lately, and criminal referees as well........

I thought Gena had a reach advantage, but I was wrong. Still, not really anything in it. Especially if you consider how GGG was outjabbing 73' reach Jacobs.

 

i think ggg is going to break him down, and canelo is going to cooperate. at some point canelo is going to get macho and the fight will heat up and canelo will sustain enough damage to allow ggg to consistently reach him. its going to be a battle of body shots that ggg will win.

 

Hope the judges don´t f... this up especially now when boxing is having the second wind.

 

Exactly. Plus GGG's footwork allows him to be within range at all times, even against taller opponents with longer arms. Against canelo I see him beating Alvarez to the punch midrange and breaking his defence with the stif 1-2 at the long range.

This here, including the result prediction. Although I could see one camp or the other throwing in the towel if their guy is getting beat up too badly.

 

canelo may be faster then ggg but not by much. and the experience is debatle as well.

 

Experience wise, Canelo has been in with Floyd, Cotto, Trout, Lara. All 4 being excellent boxers. The most dangerous fight for Canelo was Kirkland.

GGG best opponrnts are Lemiuex, Jacobs, Brook, Murray. Throw in Danny Geale and Stevens for fun.

Canelo would have his hands full with DJ and Lemule. Maybe Brook gives him a tough fight too

 

Of course he can win... He was actually the favorite when the odds first started I dont know about now... I definitely think the fight is going to be less one sided that it wouldve been before.. Golden boy was smart to keep Canelo away for GGG and wait until he got a little more fights in him and for father time to catch up with GGG but thats not gonna happen... A robbery could happen if it goes to the cards but I definitely see GGG giving Canelo lots and lots of trouble..

maybe it was the most dangerous because kirkland is a mean dude. but i dont think it was dangerous fight for canelo considering all the circumstances. kirkalnd was weight drained, inactive, switching trainer , and 50 cent was promoting him

in fact Kirkland was 17 months inactive; he trained and fought without his long-time trainer Ann Wolfe,

and he had "lost" twice in his last six (i'm counting the DQ vs Molina as a loss because Kirkland was behind on the cards with two rounds to go and disqualifying conduct was a bizarre but innocent mistake by his corner)

his other loss in his last six was to Nobuhiro Ishida, who has never been known as a hard pucher. He knocked Kirkland down three times in the first round and the referee waved the fight off after the third.
