That gif is worthless without seeing the next couple of frames.

How can you look at that gif and say it's not clear he would have hit the canvas. His foot is practically at a 90 degree angle, no body goes that far back on their heels and stays up.

He was badly hurt there and was going to hit the canvas if it wasn't for the bell, pretty much similar to Morales' situation in the rematch.

In the last frame his feet are right under him, and it is possible to stumble backwards and catchup to your body with your feet.

Theres a good chance that he would have went down if the ropes werent there but imo unless its really clear cut they deserve the benefit of the doubt. Theres a ton of situations where the ropes are holding a person up after a punch but people only scrutinise it if they are hurt badly. The rest slide by unnoticed.

Two things should be satisfied to consider it a KD:

    1. Was Marquez hit with a legitimate punch?
    2. Did he hold the rope to prevent his fall?

I believe both questions can be answered by Yes. Therefore it is a KD.

in this case his ass and his glove could of held him up so thats 2 points of assistance..,plus to see the foot like that im gonna say if this happen in the middle of the ring this is a KD..,

beyond all resonable doubt..,all i woulda needed to see was the way the glove held him up after a punch for a tenth of a second and im callin it a kd..,

Key words, "last frame". As in, after he held the ropes. His foot was practically vertical before grabbing the rope, no way he stays up with his feet like that.

In this case it's very clear . . . JMM didn't only hold on to the ropes . . . in this frame he is sitting on the lowest rope.

The ref . . . missed it. :deal

To the letter of the law (as I remember it) that should have been scored a knockdown but, having said that, I can't remember many refs scoring knockdowns for that sort of thing in other fights.
