I know this guy trains like no other. And i hope to god when i reach 46 i look like him. But is this guy really a heavyweight? For Valuev his weighed in at a mere 214lbs? Against Ibragimov he weighed in at 211!! He seems to get lighter as he gets older? By the same token he certaintly doesnt look as light as he is. Chris Byrd weighed in at 210lbs or so as a heavy and Evander at the same weight was built diesel?!?!

No, Holyfield is a natural Cruiserweight and has been his entire career, but that's not news. Everyone knows that, and it's part of the reason people rate him so highly.

I think he slims down a bit to try to retain a bit of speed.

I don't think there was ever a point he couldn't have made cruiserweight healthily.

Look at his weight there and he's damn near 50 years old.

A natural cruiser by "todays" standards yes. Not long ago the cruiser limit was 190lbs. Theres no way Holy can make 190 so the extra 25lbs or so does help him theres no question about that which is apparent from his career. But i guess my question was more rhetorical than anything else. Its amazing to think he can come in so low at his age. He some gym rat.

You have just proved you have absolutely NO knowledge of boxing - in effect you own yourself.

    Surely the trolling must stop.

His body make up now is a heavyweight .. he is very low fat and still comes in around 215 ish.. He walks around at 230.. He is a mature cruiserweight, but would not be an effective cruiser now, his strength is at heavy, so the answer is yes, Evander is now a heavyweight, in the late eighties he was a cruiserweight and had to push boundaries to stay at heavyweight, but now he is a constant mature heavyweight............but still a small heavyweight compaired to most......

To be honest i think anything between 215lbs and 230 is the optimal weight for a "perfect" heavyweight. You can have the right blend of speed explosion and punching power at that weight.

Unless someone is like a beanpole, such as the Klits or Lewis, they don't want to be anymore than 230.

Too much bulk and you lose the athleticism.

Chris Byrd had a lot of success as a small heavy despite having little power and relying on speed.

A lot of guys must feel that they need to match the bigger guys for size, but just look at guys like Henry Cooper, Marciano and quite a few others - all well below 200lbs, even at the *** end of their careers.
