Hopkins isn't under GBP contract so there aren't any TV ties. He could fight Kovalev soon if he wanted. He is almost 50 so being picky is fine. I'd just respect him if he was like Floyd and say he wasn't about fighting the best at this point

this is just like Marquez and Provodnikov, B-Hop sees the writing on wall, and knows what would happen if he and Kovalev ever meet in a ring

Its a testament to how incredible Hopkins is, that at nearly 50, people are saying hes ducking champs.

Most guys his age are retired over a decade.

I will always be a B-hop fan and he's still one my favorite fighters, but he seems to be shook of Kovalev along with Stevenson. This coming from a B-hop fan, but i'm a Boxing fan first and i call it like i see it.

Stevenson athletic banger with who is vulnerable
Kovalev one paced basic figher (in terms of style) with huge power and does little wrong

Both are almost unwinnable for a 50 year old.....but this is Hopkins if he signs to fight one of em he has seen something he can take advantage off both can bang but that's only if they land cleanly. I reckon he might try and take Stevenson on I think there are more holes to exploit

 Regardless of what he says about his contract, he's a partner in GBP and has been as banned at HBO as the Haymon guys. Even if you want to claim he doesn't have TV ties, why the hell would he ever want to support the network that placed an embargo on his company? This is like saying Porter is ducking the Top Rank welters since he's technically a free agent too.

B-hop praised Shaefer and Haymon more than Oscar, plus he says he would go explore new options. B-hop sounding alot like Mayweather and i wouldn't be surprised if he left Golden Boy to avoid Kovalev, because i don't think Kathy Duva would have a problem working with Oscar for a B-hop vs Kovalev showdown.

Or maybe he praised Schaefer cause he was the guy actually running the company?

Why are some of you so fixated on Hopkins? The guy is a boring fighter. Who cares if he is 50. He ought to be promoting a geriatrics vitamin or something, kind of like Big George and his grill.

Go and drink a cup of cofee if you are to **** us off with that being picky ating the best. He's almost 50 hell yeah to the Alien AKA the Executioner but he has to be picky not concerning who's the best. What does Kovalev bring to the table ahn? The WBO Title? Let Kovalev fight Stevenson on the other side of the street and then bring both WBO, WBC and Linear Light Heavyweight Championship titles that we will fight him at once at the door of his residence.

He also brings in millions of viewers to the table. You seen the numbers of his Agnew fight compared to Stevenson's last fight.

Kovalev should have just went for Hopkins instead of Cleverly.

Bad move on Koval's part. Now Hopkins sees what he's made of and wants no parts of him.

In someways this is Sergey's fault too, but oh well.

No, Kovalev is VERY smart staying away from Hopkins. It is almost impossible to look good against Hopkins. The only way you do this is by knocking him out and that is virtually impossible. He just goes into his shell and waits to counter.

Kovalev is young, well schooled, experienced, aggressive, and carries legit one punch power.

Hopkins would be too old to make this a competitive fight. Even Pascal dropped old man Hopkins.

If Hopkins was in his prime (which I don't even know when that really was) than that fight would be much more competitive.

Sergey is not Shumenov. Sergey does everything much better than Beibut.
