I don't understand what's so good about him now, he's no longer even competing or trying to be the best LHW. Some fans will say that he will school Chad Dawson, I don't even think he'll school Jean Pascal or Tavoris Cloud, let alone Chad Dawson.

Since 2005 his physical skills have greatly diminished. It's ugly, sloppy, and just a flat out joke. He's now the Floyd Mayweather Jr. of the LHW division. Hopkins vs Roy, I'm not going to even bother watching that.

Hopkins was great during his prime (1997-2003), but I think some fans need to realize he's no longer the best despite his high ranking.

Because at his age he still is able to avoid getting hit cleanly more than a few times during fights. he still manages to find a way through the defense. And he somehow still manages to dominate those who are not on the elite level.

Why is he fighting Kique Ornelas?

Did you see Hopkins vs Wright? I don't even know what to call that, most LHW boxers would of gave Wright a beating, but that fight was a joke.

It's possible Hopkins' "age may have finally caught up with him". I doubt it, though.

This time last year, he was clearly top 5 P4P.

    No, he's not overrated.

You need angles and precision to beat Wright even at LHW. Hopkins proved in the calzaghe fight, that though he can't keep with a high punch output than he can still do his thing

Age has already caught up with Hopkins. He's less sharper, much slower, and throws less punches compared to a 2002 version of Hopkins.

Has Hopkins visibly aged inside the ring? Yes.

Has age caught up with him to the point where he can no longer compete at an elite level? No.

Actually no, go watch fights back to back, there is barely a speed difference at all, and he never threw many punches to begin with, what are you new to Hopkins?:patsch

Hopkins earlier in his career had a much better workrate and much sharper, very mechanically schooled which he showed against Glen Johnson, Simon Brown, William Joppy, Antwun Echols, etc. True you cannot notice a decrease in his speed, but it has decreased along with his other physical attributes. If you think Hopkins of 2009 is better than Hopkins of 2000 than you're an idiot. :patsch

Hopkins is no longer a competitive boxer, he fights for money and to be repetitive, that's why he's fighting Roy Jones Jr. again. There is a LIMIT to who Hopkins can and cannot fight because of his age. He's not fighting Lucian Bute, Jean Pascal, Chad Dawson, Tavoris Cloud, Carl Froch, or Mikkel Kessler. If you can't see that than you're just a blind Hopkins nuthugger.
