 Perhaps a bit harsh, but true. . . He made that fight ugly, and hard to watch. . But it was HIL-AAAARRRRIOUS watching the "white boy" clown on his ass, and toy with him. . .

That just shows how good Joe is, that he was able to overcome Hopkin's cheating tactics, and guile, to still soundly outpoint him. . . It also, in turn, shows how good Hopkins is, that he was able to win rounds against the great JOEY ZAGZ.

This. . . First you have to define "ATG". . If it only means the ten best fighters of all time, then no, he's not. . He's not even within 25 ranking spots of Leonard. . .

Personally, I define "ATG" as the best 100 boxers of all time... BUt I guess in the sense the OP defined "ATG", as being within a few "ranking spots" of Robinson, and Leonard, I guess no, he's not. . .

I agree with JJnight on pretty much all of his points. I'm from Philly and I have always tried to like Hopkins, but he just turns me off. Granted, he is a hall of famer, and has accomplished a lot, but really, against who? Who else goes into a fight to try to get the other fighter DQ'd? To me, he is a good fighter for his era, and that is about it

Man when I think of all time greats, i think of icons! The accomplishment is not the total picture of an ATG in my book. Because Roy Jones is an all-time great but look at how bad of a turn his career took! BHop is like a John Ruiz that wins.

We all agree that Hopkins is Dirty, He Holds, Fouls repeatedly, then how can we say he is an all time great!

Are any of you NBA fans? Do you remember this player named Ricky Davis? At the end of a game, Ricky Davis almost had a triple double but he was one rebound short of the accomplishment. With like 10 seconds in the game left, while his team was losing, he dribbled to the opponents basket, then purposely missed a basket at the opponents goal to get the rebound to receive the triple double. How how classy is that? That is how I feel BHOP does us as boxing fans. Instead of getting really good at dodging punches, he realize that he can just hold because referees dont take points away. Then he perfected the art of fouling the opponent then faking an injury to get points deducted away from his opponents.

Come on man, you got to be shitting me, BHop aint ****

I think time will rate higher than RJJ, and overrated calslappy. I think he makes it into consideration of talks for P4P status like RJJ and unlike calslappy. I would not say top 50 but top 75.

That is just what I am trying to say. For years I used to try to like him. I trick my self into thinking he was this great defensive fighter. To give him credit, he knows boxing!

But I dont see the love of boxing in him. When you watch Ali fight, he wanted to beat you fair and square. Even Manny fights fair and Square (besides the steroids, lol, just kidding). When Ali and Manny fight, they want the opponent and the world know the are the best fighter. Bhop usually leaves the match with the crowd booing! Win or Lose!

NOW, that I think of it, his best WINS has been against overstuffed welterweights - De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad.

-He had a good fight against Pascal
    H

-he ***** out against the Pride of Whales

-Dawson kicked his ass and ducked him for about 4 years

-He lost cool points for the Roy Jones fight

    - Winky Wright fight bhop foul the guy all fight

-Antonio Tarver was great fight-he get full respect for that one

-Jermain Taylor fight - I felt Bhop won both fights but because he fought like a ***** in the first half of both fights he lost

    - Props for beating my man Glenn Johnson

THe rest of the fighters on his resume, who are they?

Of course he is an ATG. Yes he should be retired and is looking bad of recent but you can't take away what he's accomplished.

Just ask yourself in the history of middleweights who where the best in that division ..If Hopkins doesn't come to mind than you have no business asking such questions ..

Me, what are you going to do about it, pleb?

    Haha, nah, I voted yes. . .

But I don't think he's a top 10 ATG like the two "sugars." I'd place him around 40-50? It's really hard for me once you get past the top 25, and even some of those are so debatable, because there are just so many great boxers from a plethora of fistic eras. . .

But an ATG, IMO (without furhter clarification), is the top 100 boxers of all time, which he definitely falls in. . . Where would you place him you tank, you beautiful, beautiful tank?
