Hopkins seems like an all around good athlete, good speed, decent pop, great stamina, he's well coordinated. I'd agree that he's not a great athlete but his athleticism isn't so unimpressive where it can be viewed as a major weakness.
What? He is pretty athletic. It's not his major tool to win fights but it sure is a part of his game. Can't really be an ATG without athleticism can you.
I don't see good speed with him. I really never did. I don't see great stamina. To have great stamina you must be active. His power is ok, but he made a name for himself knocking out much smaller men.
If anyone thinks Hopkins wasn't athletic when he was in peak form, I'd direct them to YT videos of him fighting from around 1997 to 1999. After you watch a few of his fights during his ACTUAL prime years, I don't think anyone will make mention of his supposed lack of athleticism. He was an incredible all around fighter in the late 90's.
He had great athletic ability as far as quick clinching and headbutting. He had great headbutting reflexes.
He didn't but he beat them that's all that matters in order to negate your point that he made a name by koing smaller men
This thread has clearly come about because most people only really examine Bernard's resume and fighting style circa: 2001 to the present.
Not to mention he was one of the quickest fighters on the atg hence why he succeeded for so long, boxing IQ will always outlast physical attributes
