He looks the best of all the 2016 Super Heavyweight Olympians, but what's his ceiling? Some fights I've been super impressed, others, not so much!
He'll lose to Joshua ,maybe some others ,but he'll be a top 3 guy after 2020 . Certain guys will fare better ,those guys will be ones who also have height and reach ,pressure guys. Best Olympian ? Id say Joyce looked better against Yolka and clearly should have won the gold. His style is more, can you win rounds of him ? People for whatever reason have forgotten that fights are won by winning the rounds not knocking guys out , winning a round off of Hrgovic isn't going to be so easy with his size and ability to disguise power shots and change them up, hes a drainer....he drains guys by tagging them up..
I don't know if Hrgovic is the real deal but I very much would like to see his journey. I think he becomes a legitimate contender (top 4-10) at least.
I think he will at the very least, along with a select few other prospects, help bridge the gap between the current top contenders and the champions. He will crack the top 5, and will be a very difficult fight for any one the champions, potentially beating them. he does everything better than Wilder other than raw power, can box off the back foot more effectively and has better stamina then Joshua, has the skills and ring IQ to rival Tyson Fury and at least hold his own against Usyk, and probably punches harder than either of them. I’m not saying he beats them all but I think he’ll end up that absolute top echelon of the division one way or the other.
It will interesting to see who they match up with Hrgovic and Hunter on the Usyk vs Takam undercard. I think Helenius, Kuzmin and Kabayel are highly ranked and I think possible opponents that both would be favourites against.
I don't really consider Joyce a prospect , he's defeated former champs and is in for title contention. Styles are going to make fights here as well. I think Hrgovic could cause problems for Usyk and Usyk could potentially have a easier fight with Joyce. That's going to be a hard one , people are forgetting that was Joyce of 5 years ago and it was also a 5 rounder and had very close rounds ,at least 2 of them . Really Hrgovic himself isn't going to be a prospect much longer either....anyone operating at high level and ranked in top 10 isn't a prospect, to me. Bakole, Hunter, DDD, Gorman, Ajagba , Sirenko ,Maghomodov, Conto, Morrison, Arias,Yoka...etc....These guys are prospects.
Good stuff, where did you find it? What do think of Hunter Jr., Arias, and Morrison-Lippe? You're one of the few i've seen bring Arias up around here, and personally I'm a fan of his and think he could end up being pretty good. I saw some real natural talent in Morrison but he's been so inactive that I dont see how it wont stunt his growth at least a little bit. Maybe it's an injury or health thing, I hope it's not but he was really starting to come along and progress and you could see some real god-given talent in him from his dad, especially his power. Hunter is my favorite out of the three and I really wanna see him.do well and believe he can but against some of these modern SHW I think hes gonna have some issues against the best of them even though I think hes one of the most skilled and talented HW's in the world.
I spotted it on you tube ..came up in my suggesting...I guess bc I tend to look where most don't ? Ive also seen some Wlad vs Wilder ones..where Wlad is manhandling him. I posted that one to show how tough Hrgovic is ,really Wilder should thank him that he didn't turn pro sooner....not sure if he defeats the iron chinned Hrgovic who would and is more then capable of out pointing a Wilder ...V.Klitschko style. You could tell Wilder was expecting him to get hurt by the right hand that was shrugged off. Ive come across a few Wilder type guys myself....one thing I know when they cant hurt or take you out its a crushing mental blow to them. I expect the Breazeale fight to be crazy. Hunter Jr. is really good boxer I knew against Usyk it would be very competitive ..it was a good bet to take considering the odds...that type of fight really could have swung either way depending who took control...if you really watch the fight Hunter was ALMOST in that position but Usyk shut him down and took what I remember a 8 rounds to 4 on my scoring. Id have to watch it again. Hunter Jr however will struggle with big power punchers..Bakole had him rocked a few times and I thought that fight was very competitive ,so I don't know what most were looking at ? But Bakole isn't a top 20 guy right now. Id Give Hunter a slim chance making a big impact but??? I mean he reminds me of the guy who is used as top sparring partner material .His skills are very good but ??? Is he really better then Martin /Ruiz / Kownacki , these types ? IDK. He's not in my top 20 right now. The Bakole that fought last week would have been serious problem for him I think. Totally different guy walked into that ring. lol Arias is going to real interesting ...I think his ceiling is a bit higher...good work rate ( not as skilled as Hunter) but he forces the fight on guys and doesn't stop, decent power ,he runs into shots though ...he has that Frazier like style and big guys could pose real problems with him too. His trouble seems to be stamina but that's bc he throws crazy amount and usues energy with constanst movement,so he needs to start selecting shots when they are there. Hes wasting a lot of energy just moving and its hurting him. Hes fighting the opponent and himself ,hes 230 and around 6'1....that's big guy and hes making fights more difficult then they should be....he should also maybe stop dancing around the ring as well take a sedative bc that energy can be used on his opponents ,hes winded a lot even in short round fights. Morrison has a VERY high ceiling. I see a fast explosive puncher with accuracy. He has natural talent and can be one of those high skilled guys if he stays active. One thing people have to understand IS...punching power is very important in this era, its a changing of the fighters who are averaging 6'4 and 240 now....you really have to be a puncher or WORLD class boxer to make a significant impact. I know hes about 230 now and has been around Fury and those guys for his upcoming fight, so hes like a sponge ( don't sleep on this one ) I really like what I saw, hes just not active enough, thats why I took him out of the top 20 . I believe Morrison knocks out Arias. But I put those guys around the same area right now. Hunter probably can out box both, but not for long........I think Morrison is a major threat ,but he needs to get 25 fights in if hes to be a top 10er. Heights not an issue if you can punch so his 6'2/6'3 frame isn't a hinderance, he's probably a top 5 puncher from what ive seen but can he knock out the top guys? I believe so ,not many are going to take many punches from him if hit square on. So yea I would rate Hunter Jr. over both right now...but boxing is a very fast changing dynamic bc everyone progresses differently ,you just have to knopw when and who at what point. But Hunter Jr. is closer to top level ranking then Morrison or Arias ,they aren't close right now. they have yet to fight anyone with a pulse but one can see what they can do in around the corner. For all I know Bakole lost before and now he's going to punch holes in the guys on my list ? Some guys take L's and come back better, Hunter vs Usyk at HW even ? Ruiz vs Parker ? Klitschko vs Fury and Martin vs Kownacki ( I think in a 12 rounder ,maybe a different outcome ? ) . all these fights are fights where you just don't know if its the same outcome again ?
