Look at how his fellow countryman Shohei Ohtani just became the highest paid athlete in the world. The big money in sports (outside of soccer) is still in the US. Few people outside of hardcore boxing fans will bother to catch his fights in the morning with the time zone differences.

He gets compared to Manny a lot and Manny became a household name in sports period by fighting in the US.

To be honest nobody cares about US. Real beautiful fight and arenas are in GB and Saudi. I could imagine him to fight there.

Inoue already fought in US.... Result? Who cares.

I didn't see Mayweather fight in Japan or Tank or Crawford in Japan. They look like they were scared to leave home without mommy.

When you say "I fought in Wembley in front of 90 000 people" .... Its a Real deal, Real masculinity level. Or fights for milions in Saudy. Or fight against Zhang in China.

But fighting in MSG or MGM? Well, it sounded well maybe in 90's. After Klitschkos took over in HW, to Germany...... US became less important. Less and less significant.

If you Tell everybody on planet earth .... Wembley... Everybody knows. But not everybody knows MGM......

Its like with American football and baseball. Nobody cares. Nobody knows players. I found out who is Tom Brady because of Djokovič had him in his box during US Open. That's just a sad reality. Sport in US sucks. Only MMA, NHL, basketball are solid. All other things are declining.

He fought Nieves in the US and I'm sure he made way less money than he did in Japan.

Japan is the 3rd largest economy on the planet & thus generates massive amounts of money for Inoue & anyone he faces there for those weight classes

In US, people generally don't care about below 135 weight classes & there are no US stars there except Bam & he is hardly a mainstream name nor is there any serious prospect of him fighting Inoue

Pac had the luck of facing JMM, Morales, & Barrera who were Mexicans with a significant Latino fanbase in US. There are no names like that for Inoue to face in US. Yes the title holders at 126 are all currently Mexican but none are names like Barrera or Morales

He already fought 3X in US & once in Scotland & probably makes less money every time he fights outside Japan

He will likely fight Nery next year in the US

Considering these factors the comparison of Ohtani & Pacquiao to Inoue isn't apples to apples

He needs to move up to 126 and fight in the USA, then he can become a super star

Fights in UK generally have the best atmosphere & a fight at Wembley or Spurs stadium is better than the same old stale MSG or MGM

The crowd singing along to the Mull of Kintyre on Wood's entrance > over anything in Vegas

I found Wlad to be dreadfully boring with his style but I was glad when the Klitschko's showed that they didn't need US to make money & Boxing is a global sport not an American monopoly

Otani is making $700 million over 10 years; does anyone wonder why he came to the US?
Of course Inoue would make more money in the US, but since he's a big star in Japan he can make a good living in his own country.

If the Saudis continue to buy promoters off you'll never see an 80,000 Wembley bout again.

I found out about Messi because he signed a US contract. We don't care, or most of us don't, care about tennis, soccer, bike ride up mountains, pro volleyball etc. You don't like US sports; fine. We don't care if you do or don't.

    Based on what?

Who are the big US names at 122, 126, & 130?

You are comparing a league ball sport to Boxing where it often takes 2 to tango to generate massive money

Nery, MJ, Espinoza, Kholmatov, Robeisy, Venado Lopez, Figueroa, Vargas, Wood, Cordina, Foster, Navarrete. Fighting these guys in US (for a start most of them aren't even American) will make Inoue a star when most of them are themselves looking for that big payday from Inoue over in Japan? Fulton made more fighting Inoue in Japan than he ever will again in his career, same with Tapales

Exactly. American sports are only followed by Americans. For example, I cannot name a top Sumo wrestler or cricket player. I do know some of the top Sumos are treated like kings over there. And you are correct, the money pie has been sliced a little diffrent in the last decade or so. Guys don't need to come to the US to make the big money. The way I see it, the more places fighters can make big money in the sport, the better.

Japan, like the tiny majestic isle of Great Britain, is a boxing epicenter and Inoue is a superstar over there and he's the cash cow, the money man, the face of boxing, and the champ

The Saudis have changed everything now. Only Great Britain with its ''best fans in the world'' (not my words but the word of countless fans and fighters across the world) will be able to compete with them from now on

Only ignorant person will find out about Messi because of that, because FOOTBALL (there is only one football and it's not Brady's American Handball) is Word wide sport number one.

Tennis is popular in US as hell! There are 23,6 milions participants in tennis in 2020. But Thera are only 5 milion American Football players. Haha. How is it that feeling a crushed you by arguments?

Btw. US has only 331 milions people. Rest of the world are bilions. Sorry, US is a small fish pond.

This is the natural path taken by all who wanna be stars and fight in America.Ggg, Loma and manny and others.Tour the UK but America is the mecca of boxing. It’s a massive logistics endeavour finding a base, gym and adapting to the new environment and fans that flock to see you.

If he'd make much more money in the US he'd probably fight in the US.

That a baseball player makes more in the US is neither here nor there. An MLS player would make more in the big European leagues, doesn't mean American boxers should fight over there.
