I don't think Froch's inside game was as bad as some folk make out. Sure, it wasn't great, but he did have some joy there, it's just that Ward was superior in that department and often came out a punch or two on top.

There are plenty of other high profile fighters who I've seen offer less on the inside eg Wlad and Khan to name just two.

Ward's more of a spoiler on the inside than anything else. I don't see him being able to duke it out on the inside for prolonged periods ala James Toney. he can throw some cute counters on the inside and knows how to position himself there but that's the extent of it. he's like a 2004+ Hopkins when he became a spoiler.

still he's the most skilled fighter in boxing aside from Mayweather.

And not one push all fight, someone needs to take heed instead of moaning

He 'dukes it out' plenty. He just smothers and handcuffs you in the process.

I actually prefer what Ward does to what Toney did. Toney's approach relies on more talent. Yes, it's more smoother and better on the eye, but it needs the right style to be fully effective.

Movers, thinkers, counter punchers ain't falling for it for the most part. He needs you to fight balls to the wall.

Ward can pretty much handcuff any style.

    Andre's 'hip clinch' is ridiculous.

something I seem to do naturally. bizarrely I either box out of range and Im in and out throwing 1 or 2 shot counters or im fighting on the inside. fighting on the inside i find i can beat people easily and Im not in danger myself.

mid range I dont like fighting! get hit a lot more.

    thanks. my fav move.....

two orthodoix fighters. get in close until my left shoulder is touching there chest area. try and throw something with the left to body to get them leaning forward. or just push with shoulder so they push back. then pull back my left shoulder which leaves a nice slot to whip the right uppercut thriugh the guard. works a treat.

the more sideways you are the easier it seems to be to disguise. throw plenty left hooks to distract and not thinking of right hand then boom!!!!

Sounds like Durans right uppercut on the inside.

It's the move Eddie Futch was famous for teaching. Mike McCullam did it brilliently, He use to go to the body with it though most of the time.

Futch didn't teach it to Duran though.
