Because Mayweather knew he could make more money fighting De La Hoya, which I felt would be the more competitive fight anyway.

No, his detractors are to impatient.

They said the same thing at 140 pounds until he thrashed Hatton once the bout had built up enough buzz.

And for anyone discrediting that bout because it was at 147, please do not use the logic that Hatton was not at his best weight because neither was Floyd.

Floyd will fight the winner of Cotto-Margarito in 2009.

he has been avoiding the best since his move to 140, he knows that he is not the same fighter at those higher weights and his power is not that effective, he will avoid cotto like the plague and will continue to do so just watch,, even his uncle say the are fighting hatton 2 before cotto, so after hatton 2 they will come up with an excuse to avoid miguel,,,hey is not coincidence he has been avoiding miguel since his 140 days after he beat hatton he decided to move up to ducked cotto so this is nothing new...

in the old top rank page they had a picture of a post fight when fraud fought sosa and cotto fought some guy in the under card in like his 10 pro fight were fraud did called out cotto and say he wanted to fight him,, but come on what a ***** challenge is that ,, that is cherrypicking at 110% he wanted to catch a cotto under development cause he knew that later he would have to ducked him all the way cause he knew cotto will turn into a a savage beast that he will never want to face

The knowledge of some people here is mind-boggling.

Not fight a PRIME DLH? What the hell does that even mean? So when Floyd was at 130, he was supposed to jump up to 147 and fight DLH and Tito?

Get the **** out here. Most of these guys are clearly fans of boxing within the past 3 or 4 years, and haven't yet taken the time to go back in time.

Cotto only moved up to Welter at the time Floyd fought Baldomir. It took Cotto to beat at least Judah (who most people rag on), or most probably Mosely, to get him as the OFFICIAL challenger. In the mean-time, Floyd fougth DLH for 15-20mil, and Hatton, the no. 1 light-welterweight in the world (and extremely popular too).

The only bad move he's made is fighting DLH next, over Cotto... And ARGUABLY fighting Baldormir over Margarito, but if Marg loses to Cotto, I guarantee you history will look favourably on this decision.

    Just a thought.

Floyd may have called out everyone including the pope a few years ago but Kostya didnt move from 140lbs for his whole career. I dont think he ran from anyone because he never made any claims that he was going knock person A or person B out. Kostya fought the fights his management team put in front of him. I love the hype that follows Mayweather wherever he goes but any fans suggesting Kostya ran clearly dont have any respect for an athlete that should be applauded for his conduct and the way he represented the sport. He didnt run from anyone it was JUST a Match up that was never made.

I think at 140 Mayweather is too slick for Kostya but doesnt stop him. In prime shape Kostya was a beast. UD MoNEY mAY

He seemed to be in a rush to face Baldomir for his title. Wanted the EASIEST way to the Linear WW title maybe? And now, his defense of that 'title' is an embarrassment. Unfortunately he left his guts and drive @ 135....

Baldo was his 4th choice. When he first came to WW, he targeted the undisputed champ. Meanwhile, Cotto paid Urkal step aside to money to fight for a vacant title against his sparring partner the minute he got to WW. I like Margo, but I don't know why Margo fans think the world revolves around him.

Of course it's no coincidence. I don't like the little ****'s persona but he is a great boxer and should be giving the boxing fans the best fights out there, especially as he is regarded as the clear #1 P4P. The thing is, I'd put my money on him to beat all out there at 147 and that's why it's even more frustrating that he obviously has no interest in fighting Cotto, Margo, Mosely, etc ..
