Is it a foregone conclusion that Beterbiev walks through Kovalev?

At no point in his career has KOvalev shown indication or evidence that he could withstand the kind of damage Beterbiev is capable of inflicting. Kovalev has always been great at what he does, but he's never convinced me that he has that degree of durability.

I think we'd see a more defensively responsible Beterbiev against a Prime Kovalev. He's faced Kov before in the AMs, so I'm sure he'd have zero intentions of underestimating him as a professional.

The truth is, neither fighter is actually in their prime right now -- Beterbiev isn't either. His pro career starting late + being avoided for so long after he finally did turn pro + the managerial problems for a few years have all slowed down his ascension.

In my opinion, any version of Kovalev would need to try to get Beterbiev out of there a.s.a.p. That would still carry quite a bit of risk. Would be a brutal, but great scrap regardless.

KRUSHER has naturally much heavier hands than gvozdyk, trust me on that. also a less quick but far more consistent and accurate jab.

50/50 fight leaning towards Kovalev stoppage.

Hardly. But I used to believe this was a foregone conclusion for Kovalev, and no longer do.

Kovalev isn’t far superior to Gvodzyk from the long range. The only reason It looked that way was because the Nail was up against ****ing Beterbiev. He has better movement than Krusher, fights way more disciplined, has better gas tank, better punch resistance, while Kovalev’s jab is stiffer, Gvodzyk’s is more consistent and is less open to counters. And they’re not even far apart when It comes to power either, especially if you watch them against their common foes Chilemba and Mohammadi.

Has Beterbiev meant to have more power than Yarde...technically better agreed, more controlled application yes ... but more power not so sure ?

To me it is. If they fight I hope the odds reflect the sentiment around here that Kova will be competitive and it makes the odds close. If AB can be within -300 Ill be putting money on him.

Kova doesnt make the final bell.

Yes i actually think that would be quite an interesting matchup, Yarde and Beterbiev I mean.

Of course Beterbiev would be favored, but you never know when two power guys are slugging it out
