Is it a mistake for Usyk to want to continue?

He's made enough money, but if he continues to box, it's because he loves to fight.

You all take that way too literally.

Theres 2 ways to get that sort of recognition with this few fights based off quality.

A)Hes utterly dominant and his wins are all 12-0 like Wlad or by demolition like Foreman
B)The guys he barely beat are the best fighters ever.

    Neither of these apply here.

I'm out here defending James Braddock on "worst champ ever" ever threads based on his last 5 fights and you're coming to me with someone whose 4th best opponent is Derek Chisora.

You can argue hes the best CW but its not by far. Its a tweener division thats 40 years old. Theres really just him Holyfield and Haye.

Yes, should def. retire now but it seems perhaps likely that he won’t.

So much emphasis on the excuse riddled career of Fury, that it has obfuscated the fact that Usyk has clearly lost a step or two.

Against the bigger guys, Usyk still has to work that much harder than his opponent - placing him in the category of fighter whose style, at least at HW, doesn’t bode for a long career.

The dude is virtually 38 yo also - even with less fights and mod. training, I think people are developing a false sense of exactly how long a fighter can go on viably these days.

While Usyk might be performing at skill and fitness levels beyond what yesteryears 38 yos were fighting at - he is still subject to the natural ravages of age - and he certainly isn’t still in his prime - he is somewhat past same.

Relative to the perceived top dogs of this era, he literally has nothing more to prove.

And, unlike Fury and AJ, Olek has a win over a fresh promising talent in Dubois.

Olek could turn the trick a second time around, but if Dubois has improved, Usyk’s own trending deteriorations might meet DDD part of the way for a likely tougher fight.

I say Usyk still wins it but does he need that?

    I don’t think so.

If I was him I'd go down to CW, beat Opetaia and retire

But why not, why waste his time with nonsense? He beat the two clear best HW of this generation and beat Dubois who is likely to be the next landlord

I heard him say in an interview yesterday that after fury he intended to go back down to CW. I can't see how he could drop 10 kilo but whatever.

Usyk should fight Dubois again, end any lingering "controversy" from the first fight, unify the belts once more, and be paid handsomely for his troubles.

I love mostly that he's destroyed the myth of the SHW. No more bollox about AJ or Fury walking through Ali, Tyson , etc... just because they're 'too big'

He's an ATG and proves that skills pay the bills. The weak era of the SHW will hopefully die with them. Bring on the era of Opetaia next.

For so long the talk was we'd never see a 220lb HW champ, and he's just dispatched all the big boys.

Not interested in DDD, unless Usyk gets old overnight, he absolutely dominated and stopped him already.
